We've been hitting mid to upper 90s here in Raleigh. You're right, doesn't cool as well, but I've found it doesn't matter what car you're in. If it's blazing out, it's not going to cool as well.
You can buy one of those freon cans with the gauge and test. If it's in the green, then you're about as good as it's going to get. Had a friend on mine put a set of gauges on an old volvo my son has and his pro gauges and crap gauge on the can read basically the same thing, so you can put some trust on those can gauges.
Have you checked your cabin air filter? You might have an airflow blockage at the filter.
