NHTSA Recall 15V-319
Impacts 2008 Ford Mustangs (and possibly other model years)
In certain vehicles, the front driver side air bag inflator housing may rupture and deploy abnormally in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the drivers side air frontal bag. An inflator rupture could result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
still waiting after receiving the "don't call us, we'll call you" letter back in the summer. In the meantime, still driving while worried about the airbag.
Drive mine every single day, and the airbag recall never even enters my mind.
I mean, the probability of being in an accident is slim in the first place. The probability of being in an accident that deploys the airbag(s) is even slimmer still. And the probability of my airbag being one of the small number of affected units is slimmer still.
Might as well worry about being struck by lightning - chances are probably about the same.
Just read that they are concentrating on cars in high-humidity areas first (Gulf coast and southern states) with Hondas and Chrysler products first as they have the most likelihood of having the issue. The NHTSA stated that it may be as much as FOUR YEARS before all the replacements are completed.
Personally, I'm not concerned at all. The number of incidents are so small compared to the total population affected you have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice in the same day. Or winning the lottery so you can afford that GT350!
I understand that you are asking as to when the airbag will be replaced on your vehicle. While we appreciate your patience, we want to offer our sincere apologies for the delay.
We want to assure you that Ford Motor Company is working closely with our suppliers to produce the parts for this repair. Ford works closely with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on vehicle safety issues. Our commitment is to provide you with the highest level of service and support.
When parts are available, Ford Motor Company will send a letter to inform you that parts are available and to contact your dealer to schedule a repair under Safety Recall 15S21.
Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.
Sincerely,

So when I bought my bullitt from Houston, Texas I was excited for a salt free car. Well now the bullitt is in Indiana. I wonder if they will still consider it a gulf coast car or see it as in Indiana, thus being less risk... Damnit.

I am the third owner of a Bullitt that was purchased at a Carmax where i had it imported from another state
I received a letter from Ford about the safety recall so maybe it depends on where you bought it or if they are using the DMV registration database....not sure
The VIN is directly associated with the title/registration. Whoever registered the car last through the BMV is the owner of record and will get all recall notices.
Thank you for your reply. My name is Kimberly, from Ford's Customer Relationship Center (CRC).

You can expect a follow up letter in late May through the quarter of 2016 containing the instructions to take your vehicle to your local Ford Dealer. At this time, we appreciate your patience while we wait for this notification to arrive in your mail.
Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.

I'm pretty sure my air bag light is going to burn out considering how long it's been on. Well hey, at least the 2015 mustang was the top selling 2 door coupe in the world last year :/

Still getting this message on the ford owner webpage.
The bullitt is in Indiana now but My car spent most of its life in Houston so a good chance the air bag is affected.
Come on ford, My faith in your goodwill will definitely affect my future car buying decisions.

I spoke with my dealer yesterday about this very topic. In a nut shell she was kind enough to tell me that the urgency depends on the recall number either starting with a 14 or 15. Mine was not in the urgent pile. I asked her if Ford would disable the airbag and she said no but that there is a temporary fix for the more urgent ones which I can only assume would be a disable of it until airbags arrive. My brother has an Acura and they gave him a loaner car of his choice from Enterprise until his is replaced which could take 3 more months. Acura told him they are taking this very seriously since they have now had 10 fatalities due to the airbags, mostly in Toyota and Honda brand cars. If it was super urgent I assume you would have had to bring your Stang in for the temporary fix by now. Otherwise its sit and wait.
Got my air Bag replaced today (for the car that is) took all of 15 minutes. Paperwork is about an hour, but they will mail the warranty to you if you don't want to wait:grin2:
