2018 Bullitt Rumor De Jour...
I came across the two paragraphs below on another forum...
"So I just got a tip from an anonymous source...I was told to keep an eye on "Ford's Facebook pages this week" for a Mustang live stream event. I asked some follow-up questions and was told where they got the info (won't reveal for privacy reasons but it's a credible source that would know). They told me it'll be a Facebook Live Event that is being held in California and said they were 99% sure it's on Tuesday (not sure what time).
The embargo and online reveal from the media outlets might be earlier depending on when the embargo actually ends but I'm pretty confident what I described above will be Ford's "official" reveal of it. Why California and Tuesday I have no clue, none of this makes sense still but if true at least we don't have much longer to wait."
Thinking about this... If Ford were just going to unveil the standard 2018 Mustang, which is receiving a facelift, why wouldn't they have done it at NAIAS, when all of the media was in town last week? It would have been the perfect opportunity to show a new product in front of thousands of people that have a lot of reach.
Now the fact that this rumor has this unveiling somewhere in California has me thinking San Francisco and Bullitt. My guess is IF there is validity to this rumor, that Ford will show the new standard Mustang and Bullitt at an event in San Francisco.
On top of this, Shelby American has announced they will be unveiling a car on the Ford Performance booth at Barrett Jackson auctions on Thursday. There has been some confusion as to whether this unveiling is going to be a Shelby American post-title car, like a Super Snake or something to that effect, or a Ford Production vehicle, like the GT350, or perhaps a new GT500. Their posts on social media have also included suspect messaging like #50years, #Snakebit and #thelegendreturns.
With the new facelifted 2018 Mustang coming in the very near future, I can't imagine Shelby would go through the trouble of launching a new version of the, now, 'old' Mustang, so my guess is IF there is validity to this rumor of a Mustang event happening tomorrow in California, we will see the standard 2018 Mustang (EcoBoost/GT) AND a new Bullitt unveiled tomorrow and then we will see a new GT500 unveiled on Thursday!
We will find out soon enough!
