rag82557.....1976 to 1982, deployed throughout the Atlantic.

FScarjunkie.....1961-65, I was stationed at NAS Ford Island, Pearl Harbor then transferred to Barbers Point Hawaii. Jan, 1964 was transferred to a squadron stationed at Alameda, Calif. We did summer training aboard the USS Hancock CV19 aircraft carrier. Fall of '64, sailed to South China Sea. We supported Vietnam. I worked on the flight deck as a plane captain, very interesting working the flight deck at night, one plane crashed and burned, fire lighted up the sky, bullets going off in the fire, pilot didn't get out. God bless our men and women in service.

lotus.....8 years as an Aviation Mechanic Structures Tech. Did 3 cruises with 2 in the Gulf. U.S.S. Stennis, Kennedy and Eisenhower.

Marguerite.....I was in the Navy for 3 years, stationed in the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.

A very moving and emotional photograph...


The occasion of this photograph was a Veterans Day Commemoration at Dallas City Hall on 11 November 2004. The veteran pictured is Houston James, a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, and the Marine is Staff Sgt. Mark Graunke Jr., a member of an ordnance-disposal team who lost his left hand, one leg, and an eye while defusing a bomb in Iraq in July 2003.
