2008 Bullitt Mustang

This Post is going to be for those that would like to See & Read
about Mods.
Also, for those that simply LUV Fast Mustangs.

I picked BRENSPEED in Pierceton, IN. to do my 08 Bullitt Mustang.
I would recommend them to anyone. They are a 1st class operation.

They also offer their Guest House to Out-of-State customers that
are traveling long distance. A simple phone call 1-574-594-9559
will "Reserve" it.

Here are Pics of the Guest House.

I stayed at the Guest House while the Bullitt was being Modded.
There was at times two Techs. (Mike & Dave) working on the Bullitt
at different times. Mike (Primary Tech) started on the Bullitt as soon
as they opened and stopped when they closed. He took a Very-Small
lunch break and was right back to work. Dave also as I said worked
on it some while Mike was working on a different area.

This is what you (Usually) read in Magazines on all vehicles like the
Shelby GT500, SS Camaro, SRT8 Challeger, Charger etc.
Gives you an idea of just how STRONG this 2008 Bullitt Mustang is.

Here are the things I did "Before" I went to BRENSPEED in
Preparation for the (Increased-Power).
Custom Limited Edition Plate along with Strut-Tower-Brace
has been Removed
Here is the New Custom Plate
"Exact-Duplicate"

Custom Plate fits right in
the Rectangle Box

New Tires that are the Exact same ones that came on the GT500
Mustang.

Painted for 1-week underneath every Rusted place I could find. It
was so HOT I had to cover up to keep from Scorching my Legs on
Top and Bottom against Asphalt Driveway.

Installed H&R Hub Centric 25MM Front & Rear Wheel Spacers.

The rear spacers go on with (No-Problem) & Wheels fit Great
But the Front Spacers fit okey but you have to "Cut" Off your
existing 5-Wheel Studs. They stick out to "Far". This is how you
should do the cutting. High Speed Dremel Tool W/Cutting Blade.
Look at this Pic and notice I left the Wheel-Lugs on next to the
Lug I was Cutting-Off. This way No-Messed up Threads.

Here are the Pieces that were Cut-Off. Notice they are different
Heights.

This pic shows the Finished Product. After cutting those Lugs off.
You have to then use the Dremel with a Grinding-Wheel. To make
all the Cut-Off-Studs as close as possible to the same (Length).
You, Do-Not actually Cut or Grind any of the (Threads). You are
only working with the end of the studs before you get to the
Threads. Takes time but (Not-Hard) to do.

I sent my 2-Back Stock Wheels to James at Weldcraft to have them
(Widened). They were 8.5" stock and they added 1.5" to make them
10" Wide. Shelby GT500 has 9.5" Wheels Front & Rear.
I know many of you are interested in this so you can retain the
Stock Wheels, so here are many Pics of the Widened Wheels.

Here are the 2-Rear wheels Mounted & Balanced
This one took only 1-Weight

This one took 2-Small Weights

Here is the (Front-Side) of the Wheels as I removed them from the
Very-Well-Packed Box.
Notice, Not a Mark, Period !!!

Here are 2-Pics of the Box they came back in.
They were (Double-Boxed) and then had Bubble-Wrap.

Here are 3-Pics of the Rear of my Bullitt.
I changed the Fake Gas Cap to a
(Silverhorse Racing Black Billet Trunk Emblem).
I Added the (Silverhorse Racing Black Honeycomb Taillight Panel) to
match the Front. BRENSPEED then Added the (Silverhorse Racing
Billet Fuel Door).

After

Here is a Pic of My-Bullitt sitting outside for Months while doing
the above changes.

This is interesting I think. These Pics were taken
by a former Ford Engineer that was traveling.
He saw the Bullitt the night before and
was waiting when I came out to leave.
I started it up to let it Warm-Up and
when I came back out he was checking the
Bullitt out.
He shot these Pics and was Excited over the way
the Bullitt now Sounded and the New
H/P & Torque figures.

I drove back to BRENSPEED Performance and
waited for Dyno Don to show-up from
Indianapois, IN.
He was going to drive the Bullitt back and
then feed me at The Crackle Barrel
Here's Don getting the 08 Bullitt Keys
Good Times !!!

Oh,
From trying to follow Don on the way to Indianapolis, IN. I think he was having
a Great time. Or it certainly Sounded like it from where I was sitting.
He will have to tell what He thought.

This is EXACTLY what I encountered with the H & R 25 mm spacers. When I first installed the spacers, I started with the rears and saw that they were flush. So when I put the fronts on, I did not think to check them. However, after driving for a couple days, I noticed a steering wheel shimmy from around 30 - 65 MPH. It was not that noticeable but enough to worry me.

I tried to figure out what was causing it before I removed the wheels. But when I did, I saw the indentations on the pockets of the front wheels. Scary!!! I had been driving quite a bit all over LA freeways for days! Got the Dremel out, did exactly what Terry did, NO PROBLEMS.

Just be aware that you will more than likely need to do this if you have the stock wheels and the H & R DRM 25 mm spacers that do not REPLACE the studs. Check your clearances first!

I really like the way they look now, but they exaggerate the fender gap, in my opinion. Now just gotta lower it! Nice, quality spacers though. "They're made in Germany, you know the Germans make good stuff" (<--- quoting 'Vince' from Sham Wow  )

Steve
Steve,

Very Well said ..........

We are on the Same-Page !!!

I measured the Rears and then the fronts and knew there was going to have to be some
modifying to the Stock Wheel Studs on the Front.

One Dremel coming up.

Hello Brad,

Thanks Man for taking the time to check out the Post.

It has been in the planning stage for a long time it seems.

But, I will have to say when I heard it fire up it was an AWESOME Sounding Machine.

It is the way I wanted it in the H/P and Looks department.

Terry, thanks for the info about Quality Printing. I also agree with your thinking behind the mods to the B rather than buying a Shelby. Just slide in behind the wheel of a Bullitt Mustang, slip on your Persol sunglasses put her in first gear and enjoy a ride back in time -- or -- a put yourself in a new frame of mind. Either way, YOU WIN!
Thats how I feel when I drive mine. ;)
Jim,

Your Welcome and Jim does Great Work.

We are on the exact same page in regards to the Bullitt Versus a GT500 Shelby.

The GT500 Shelby is an Awesome Machine for sure.

But, IMHO, nothing touches the Limited Edition 2001/2008/2009 Bullitt Mustangs.

As I have said many times here, just add the H/P and Mods as you really want your
Bullitt to be.

Wow...awesome Bullitt you've got there Tiger. I love what you did with the ID plate. I also never thought I'd say this to a man but your rear end looks pretty nice too.

However............if I dropped 21 large and wound up under 500 ponies at the rear wheels I would be pretty disappointed. I suppose though that a good chunk of the total is not related to hp production and, if you knew going in you wouldn't reach 500 then I guess it's all good.

Enjoy it.
Hi Rich,

However............if I dropped 21 large and wound up under 500 ponies at the rear wheels I would be pretty disappointed
I see where you are coming from on the 500 RWHP and 21 Large spent.

As you point out if was you, you would be Disappointed in a Major-Way.

But, man, don't we Hate to see that word, because we just know something is coming our way.

In reality I was planning on anything above "450 RWHP".
So in my case I got the Bonus of another 28 H/P.

Also, I know you don't perhaps know me, but if I really was looking for 500 RWHP ???
Trust me it would have been there .........

Unlike many people I was building a Strong Running Street Bullitt with Factory Street Tires.
Not, the Cheater Slicks that as soon as it Sprinkles Rain one slows up, Immediately or
chances tearing up their Bullitt.

So, to have 478 RWHP on Street Tires is more than Sufficient on a Bullitt Mustang.
Watch the Video "Close" and do you really (Honestly) think it needs another 22 RWHP ???

Once you get to where this Bullitt is in RWHP on Street Factory Tires it is nothing more than
IMHO (Bragging-Rights) to ones Buddies.

And there is nothing Wrong with that, if that is where a person is in their Life. I have been
there many-many times over in the past.

How many people do any of us really know that are driving a Street Mustang around with
562 Flywheel Horsepower ???
I can answer that, in my case I don't really know anyone unless I drive back to BRENSPEED.

I suppose though that a good chunk of the total is not related to hp production and, if you knew going in you wouldn't reach 500 then I guess it's all good.
As you say in the above comment the Dollars were spread out for a Complete Upgraded
Bullitt with all things taken into consideration. 500 RWHP was "Never" part of the Goal.

LeadFoot said:

Like you say I don't really tell other Men I really like what you have done with your "Rear-End".

Thanks much for the Compliments on the Bullitt and it's New Look Rear-End.

It is an AWESOME Street Machine and it is a very complete package to drive anywhere.

Say, I do want to say to you that my comments on the 500 RWHP are meant to "Answer"
your Comment on same.
My Comments are in No-Way to be taken as anything other than a simple explanation of
what I was looking for and why 500 RWHP is just not a Big Deal in this Newly-Modded-Bullitt.

Thanks for Posting and your Compliments and Questions.

BRENSPEED does have their game plan down.

If one lives within driving distance I have No-Problem recommending them. Heck I say take
some vacation and get the Bullitt done at the same time. Call ahead and make a Reservation
for staying at the Guest House. FREE, and it is Nice, Clean and has a High-Speed Computer
in a room by itself.

They started in the morning and only stopped for a brief lunch and right back to work.

You know Scott that I really like your Mustang and have said so many times here on IMBOC.

You've brought up some excellent points Terry. It makes tons of sense when I look at it that way.
I am now wrestling with myself on buying the rear honeycomb panel with the billet medallion and fuel door.
That looks VERY sharp.

Be careful in that thing!

Hi Rich,

As you say in the above comment the Dollars were spread out for a Complete Upgraded
Bullitt with all things taken into consideration. 500 RWHP was "Never" part of the Goal.

Hey, looks like I did about a 50/50 job with your Likes & Dislikes.
It is closer to 90/10 or 95/5 like/dislike. The pins and logo just give away the terror that is under the plain green wrapper. To me the more understated the better. But as you stated this is the reason that we love this country and this site where we can still share our opinions and not have to worry about someone getting angry. So when are you taking a road in the Memphis direction so I can see this thing in person.

It was a helluva week for you, Big Guy!!!

I'll say this much, when you take on a project, you do it in a big way! Many thanks to you for everything and the fun times we had this past week at Brenspeed. Great post and pics also. I can't help but wonder what 2010 will bring for mod-minded Bullittheads! Here's 2 more pics.....

No more nubbies on those Goodyear tire treads!!! :bigguns:

The last pic before heading home to Franklin, TN. What a week it was.........

Hey Terry very nice.. very very nice... but, I gotta ask as I am sure you are well aware.. you are dangerously close to the limits of the stock rotating assembly with your new setup there. What are your plans for when you throw something? With over 500 Horses and 11.5 PSI it is like a ticking bomb.
After spending over $20 grand on mods I don't think he's too concerned about blowing the motor

Crazy man! I thought I was bad about spending money. I just showed my wife this thread just to prove I'm not the only one or even close to the worst one!  That is some awesome build. I really like the cams. They just say "old school muscle." Nice job Terry.
