From Matt, already e-mailed to people on the Florida Bullitthead list.
Here is a summary of what we decided on at our meeting last Sunday..
Feel free to add/ correct, etc
The Event – Bullitts at mecum would be activities for Bullitt Mustang owners [ and guests ] to gather during the last three days of the Mecum Collector car auction.
Assuming the date for the ‘Hero car” to be auctioned will be Saturday , January 11th in the evening here is a proposed schedule of activities for us:
Evening of Thursday 1/9- Meet and greet
Friday -1/10 – a day at the auction
Evening dinner at a local hotel
Saturday – 1/11 Day and evening at Mecum to witness the auctioning of the ‘68 Bullitt
Possible “ Bullitt “ tradition – the parking lot party
Sunday – 1/ 12 Breakfast followed by a car cruise to Daytona Beach.
So far we have three people to organize- Rich and Kyle Nelson and Matt Cannizzaro.
Tony Alonso is asking for a role to organize so let’s review what we already have decided and see if we can cover everything with the four of us.
HOTEL – Rich will work on this to get a preferred rate at a hotel close to the Auction site.
We need a head count by a certain date [ say October 15th] to get minimum # of people interested in a hotel
Mecum - Kyle has a contact to make an inquary on possible activities we could do with Mecum’s blessings.
We have discussed a special parking area for our cars within the grounds on 1/10 and/ or 1/11 since many of the auction cars will be gone by Thursday.
It would be really great if we could have a private session with the current owner of the Bullitt, Sean, sometime on Friday or Saturday.
I’m sure he knows all about our affinity for the Bullitt cars and might want to have a session with us.
Also , possible reserve seating on Saturday evening for us to view the hero car getting a new owner
Maybe a Bullitthead tradition after the auction – the Parking Lot Party
Restaurant / Dinner -Matt - will find a local restaurant for a pre- arranged dinner, hopefully in a private room for Friday evening 1/10.
We need a sign up for this to get a head count as soon as possible.
Also a decision needs to be made if this will be a pre-paid event in case that is required by the restaurant.
Need your opinion.
Sunday Breakfast / Cruise to Daytona Beach – Rich – a local breakfast place meetup followed by a trip to Daytona [ about one hour } to visit local museum or auto related facility.
Given the above it is obvious on what needs to be done to impiment the acticvities.
Specifically, we need the advertising and publicity starting soon for all Bullittheads to be aware of the events.
We need a way, online, to get committed names of those who will attrend the auction, those who want hotel info, those who will attend the dinner, and those who will participate in the Sunday events.
Also , who is driving their Bullitt here and who needs a ride for the weekend.
Using IMBOC and the Hoondog websites plus the Face book pages should cover this.
I’m hoping Toiny will embrace these critical tasks since I’m very busy and not tec/ internet savy and Rich is away for the next four months.
Please forward this to Kyle and Tony [ I need Tony’s contact info ] and am thrilled he is looking to help.
I met him a the Craslile evnt a few years ago.
Two last things –
1] Mecum gives two FREE all week bidder passes to their auctions to Mustang Club of America members [ at least this year they have done this ].
If availiable in 2020, that is a $100 value for only the membership fee to MCA [e.g it’s $35 for a digital membership]
2] I’m copying Tim Allen who has email addresses of some Florida Bullitt owners who do not visit IMBOC or H’Dog websites.
Lastly , lets not get anything out until the big pieces are in place and that means that we all agree on the above … and most importantly, Tony volunteering for the publicity/ sign up activities.
Please respond via emai, text, phone call, smoke signals, etc
Even a conference call, if desired prior to Rich leaving the country.
