Thumbs up

As others have said, this is one amazing thread. No short cuts are being made and the restoration is being done correctly and professionally.

Pat, what is your background? You appear to have a great amount of sheet metal experience.

Ed,

As to keep the days Kurt will miss school to a minimum (6 days) we are taking the Auto train from VA to FL and starting the power tour in Cape Canaveral, FL and will long haul it to Detroit, MI. Over 3100 miles round trip and Kurt can drive some!
Thanks!

Pat

Greg,

I sell & work on boats for a living and have for over 30 years. I love what I do and working on the water, but I’m not a weekend boater. My father blest/curst me with the “if you are going to do it, then do it right” frame of mind. And I’m doing my best to pass it on to my two boys.
Thank You!

Pat

Pat, forgive me for not catching every detail even though I've looked at every picture in this thread. When exactly will you be in Cape Canaveral? I'm about 35 miles away and would love the opportunity to come see this car with my own eyes. And I would drive my Bullitt to come see it as well.

Brian,
We will get there this Saturday, but this year we will be driving my 72 Trans Am, Kurt’s Bullitt will go on the tour next year. Thanks!
Pat

Well as pretty as I'm sure it is, I'm a bit less inclined to drive 35 miles to look at a GM car. I certainly wish you a safe and pleasant trip though. And I'll be first in line to check out the 'Stang next year!

Kurt & I just got back to working on the Fastback as we were away on the Hot Rod Power Tour. The floor & seat pans are welded in & we finished up a small repair on the left fender.
Thanks!
Pat

Awesome time on the HRPT and we look forward to taking Kurt’s Fastback in a year or two. The 10 day trip recharged us to get back on Kurt’s Fastback project.

The seat pans fit great and are built & look just like the original

The floor needed a little persuasion to fit with a BFH but it worked out and looks great!

We finished the fender repair and repaired & installed the original lower quarter trim panel mounts.

Kurt’s getting pretty good with the metal work!

Part of the left lower quarter trim panel bracket was rust off and need to be replaced as I could not find a repro one. We noted the mounts where 41 ¼” apart from each other before we removed them.
Thanks!
Pat

Kurt & I drove down to Mike’s Mustangs in Bryans Road, MD yesterday to look for a few things and to check out the 400+ Mustang’s in their junk yard. I love walking through any junk yard, but an all Mustang yard was cool! Here are a few pictures.
Thanks!
Pat

Maybe next time your son will wear more appropriate footwear when heading out to a junkyard.

The one on the left here is the color of my mom's '66 when I was a kid. She sold it for $300 three months before I got my license!
