Tagless

Time for a registration renewal and decided to order some new tags. But front tags are required in Virginia, so nice to see a clean bumper for a change ... even if it's just for a little while.

Gotta be a way to avoid drilling holes in that bumper cover. Hope you find a way. Hell, even zip tie to the grill in a non air flow spot?

I bought my 08 from a tagless state (Indiana), and tags are required here in Ohio. But I'm not drilling a perfectly good front bumper. So I've been running tagless for 5 years now without issue. I think most cops like Bullitts

I recommend Craig's Custom Brackets just asB3NN3TT does. I have one for my '01 and '09.

There is a front plate holder out there where you don't have to drill holes. I've seen them just can't remember the name.

Thanks Tony.

Yep I own and have been using one of Craig's Custom Brackets for years. Really like it, simple design, easy install and durable. As you know it mounts securely behind the bumper's front fascia. My problem - mods! I added a thicker dual fan heat exchanger recently (in front of the radiator) so getting behind the bumper to install the bracket isn't so easy anymore. I'm going to see if I might be able to offset left or right a bit and still use the bracket. Otherwise, I'm not going to lose sleep over 2 holes. I too have been driving around without the front tag for a couple weeks. The LEO's don't really seem interested, but I'm sure if I got stopped for anything else, the missing tag would be added to the list!

Front tags have been required in every state I've lived in since owning the Bullitt & I have yet to mount one on the front. It's not something most cops care about - I've been pulled over several times & never been written a ticket for not having one.

When I lived in VA, Ex-Wifey decided that she didn't like that front tag, after all (based upon her logic) some cars (other states) didn't have them. About two week later she came home totally ****ed as she got a ticket for no front plate. I decided to be the nice guy, rather and saying "I told you so", I just put her tag back on the front. I have always wondered what she told the cop. I think most people would get gotten a warning to just put the plate back on but she got a ticket. Most likely something she said that forced the ticket.

Big Thumbs UP for the Craig's Custom License Plate Bracket. I had to get on my back for a few minutes and experiment with some dry fitting. To my surprise, the bracket fit just fine, even with my new heat exchanger. Nice little air gap between the tag and the bumper. No holes drilled and no tickets!

Look on the front tag as a mini bra for the front bumper cover paint...

I have had cars without the front tag. Like Greg, aka Droopy, posted above the DPS doesn't look on that with kindness. The city guys don't seem to care here, but that's just my experience. Current 01 Bullitt came with a tag, but it was a mirrored show tag of the Bullitt logo. I didn't get 50 miles inside of Texas driving it home back in 06 from buying it in FL and I was stopped. What for? Not the 90 mph I was going. No, not that! It was no front tag. I guess he couldn't get a good radar reading without it... The real joke is, I had no tag at all. Not even a buyers tag. FL doesn't issue them apparently!

My name is David J. Midgley. But you doesn't have to call me that. You can call me David. Or you can call me David J. Or you can call me David Midgley. But you doesn't have to call me David J. Midgley....
