The Today Show - 2019 Bullitt

Hey Gang,

Anyone else see this? It's pretty funny (and cool). And it still cracks me up how many people do not know how to drive a stick.....but I guess that's what the majority of us learned to drive 40+ years ago.

That was amusing. Evidently, a lot of big city people never learned to drive...let alone a manual.

First learn to walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, then perhaps move on to something a bit more difficult.

You're welcome for the post everyone! On a side note about manuals, about 5 years ago I bought a nice 94 Mustang GT 5-Speed......basically for fun and to teach my son how to drive a manual (he was 17 at the time). Well, we tried and tried, a dozen or two times, and he finally said "Dad, I appreciate you trying to teach me, but I am just not getting it, and it's way too stressful." Oh well, when the Zombie invasion comes, and there is only a manual transmission car left to drive, he'll likely get eaten.

I give Ford credit for lending this car for such a purpose - good marketing

I went through the exact same thing with my 20 year old daughter. We tried and tried and she just couldn’t do it and really had no interest even though she really liked the 2009 Mini Cooper we were trying to teach her on and that would have ended up being her car.

The manual transmission is the BEST theft prevention device on these cars!

At the end of the drive. See the BIG grin on Al's face. Yep, the Bullitt does that to people.

Awesome Video,

I just recalled when I was 18 in 92, My dad teaching how to drive a stick, and that was the only option I had, it was difficult yes, but eventually ended up driving a manual for several years, them moved to automatic, and just this year got the 2019 bullit, It is so much fun and funny to say but I was kind of nervous since I had not driven manual for years, but once you learn it you never forget. I hope my kids will get it too when I tried to teach them, but it seems this generations they just want the EASY button.

And lets be honest, like with the Bullit and the driver assistance features, it is not that difficult for someone to learn it.

Definitely glad I grew up in the manual tranny era...dad put us in his '62 Chevy and said "here's the shifter, here's the clutch & here's the gas - let's go!" Kids now-a-days aren't as quick to bite the awesomeness of clutching & shifting, but proud and happy to teach my son because he said "Dad, if I'm getting a muscle car - I'm going to do it right (manual) = you just need to teach me" and the rest is history.

On a side note, my daughter keeps asking me to teach her, but little leery on putting her behind the wheel of my baby. Oh well, it's just a car, right?
