Fender Emblem Swap

Hey everyone

Thinking about de-badging the "GT" on the fenders of my 2001, but also considering swapping it for a different one. I sort of like the look of the "Powered by Ford" badge but i'm not a huge fan of chrome. I've also seen the running pony with either 4.6 or 281 above the tri-bar. Does anyone have pics of what they did?

Also, is the "GT" badge only on with 3M adhesive tape or does it have holes behind it?

Thanks!!!

I used the genuine Ford tri-bar pony emblems just like the ones on the 2003 Mach 1. And yes, there are holes. The holes in the emblems I used lined up perfectly.

I did the same thing. Worked out perfectly!

BTW, the holes were in the fender to assist in the assembly of the car at the factory. The GT logo was there to cover those holes, not to arbitrarily dress the car with chrome.

I am not a fan of chrome either, especially plastic chrome. I took a fine sandpaper and roughed up the plastic chrome portion of the GT emblems to give them more of a brushed stainless look, similar to the gas filler cover finish. Easy thing to do and I think it looks better.

There is a fine line between great minds thinking alike and paranoid lunatics sharing the same phobias.
