The bargain GT 350 Killer.
This build started with a stolen 2017 GT premium. The engine was destroyed, car otherwise fine, was bought from the insurance company for $10,000 US. GT premium W/performance pack and 6 speed. This is where it gets interesting. The owner didn't just want another GT, so he bought a cross plane 5.2 Aluminator XS engine from FP. ($19,999 US) It's a 580 HP beast and comes with all the engine goodies of a race engine. The transmission was opened up to be checked and billet shift forks and new synchros were added. You'll remember that 2017 was the last year with the preferred gear ratios for performance, and along with a 3:73 Torsen differential and FP HD axle shafts, and a twin disc clutch, was ready to do battle. Nitto DOT R compound tires were added to finish the build. The engine just drops in and plugs and plays with the 2017 wiring harness and computer, albeit with a FP tune.
The car was taken to the track for a shake down along with the 2011 Coyote I built some time ago, which is about 450 HP and is well sorted. After a couple of initial runs and a tire pressure and alignment tweak it was running over 2 seconds faster a lap than the 11. A GT 350 running at the same track was several tenths slower. The car is a total sleeper and runs on the street with no issues.
So, true story, or my fantasy? Decide for yourself.
