brasil had a 300c Hemi. .also asked for 5w20 oil. But here in Germany, on the "autobahn " ... no way. so I used Amsoil 5w30 all year long . No issues even with the cylinder on /off management. Ordered 8 quarts of Amsoil SS 5w30 for my Bullitt ... same story.
But Lucas or what ever additives never will find a way to enter my engine

Greetings Juergen

JackDW - 852 My brother-in-law worked for one of the major oil companies. His response to oil additive if there is a better additive, the oil company would all ready put it in. They spend Millions each year on research trying to create a better formula and if some additive was that much better, it would already be there. That sure makes a lot of sense to me. Now, if you have an old engine with issues, then some of these additives may buy you a little time but will not fix anything.

pwd72s Perhaps read this on Lucas in particular and oil thickeners in general. Factory engineers design oil passages for specific weight oil. Do you really want thicker oil than these passages were designed for? All that said, it's your car, so do as you wish.

bullit4404 Sounds like you've got it under control; will all ester and Polyalphaolefins please report to Wisconsin on the western banks of beautiful Lake Michigan. Tag us back if you need anything else.

bullit4404 In short yes, the cam variations are assisted hydraulically. 5W20 is the right stuff. Even in race cars we only used 5W30 for track use, no additives. The other cars you've mentioned are all push rod actuated valve trains that could benefit from additives.
I prefer Mobil 1 as a synthetic but there are lots of others that work fine, including Ford's own full synthetic. The Motorcraft filter is good also.

Rosebud#6071 well, never owned a car that spec.5w20 oil im looking to gain more protection and have used the synthetic oil stabilizer from lucas in my 400hp camaro, gto, nova over the years with great results never lost a cam, rocker, lifter, cam chain this 4.6 has 2 cams with fazers and cam followers wizzing around in there with 5w20 lubricating it all up. using ester full synthetic. are the cam fazers operated by oil pressure? thus dont use a 5w30 oil what say you out there?

hoosierblackbullitt It would be five (5) quarts of your choice of engine lubrication and one quart of additive for factory recommended six (6) quarts of fluid.

Doheny ↑ Exactly what they said.

bullit4404 I agree with Paul. Additives in the PS or gearbox OK, but just good quality oil in the engine should be fine.

pwd72s You definitely do not want to overfill. But why the Lucas product? I'd suggest just picking a good brand of full synthetic and sticking with it.. Actually, even Ford suggested motocraft oil may be better than adding an additive no matter how wild the claims of the additive maker.
