It's all about the bushings. The harder they are, more noise. The softer bushings usually will say, "Street use," if it says track or race they will be much harder.
The ford racing part # is M5538-4. These would work well. They are not adjustable, but as long as you aren't changing driveshafts or messing with geometry you should be good to go.

Order placed. I went with the Ford Racing LCA + 3 cabin air filters and 3 intake air filters. CJP was good enough to price match the LCA (American Muscle price was $130, CJP was $145). I went with CJP originally since the AM cabin air filters were $13 more each and I wanted 3.

MGW shifter order placed.

I will update this thread when the shifter and LCAs are installed, some time in July.

I've always been very curious about the Blowfish bracket for the shifter. It allows you to bolt the shifter entirely to the transmission, instead of half to the trans and half to the floor. Keeps the twist out of the shifter when the engine torque hits. Not cheap, but a great solution. Anybody have one?

I have the MGW short shifter and it's awesome. I also have MMS lower control arms with Spherical bearings and adjustable spring perch to set ride height. Bilstein's all around. I highly recommend these products!

My favorite “functional mod” - a one piece aluminum driveshaft! Took out clunking between shifts and made the car feel much smoother. This was done with 14,000 miles on the car. Car felt clunky with the original driveshaft from day one (I’m the original owner).
I’ve done a few other mods too, but the driveshaft really made the car nicer to drive. From memory, it’s a “Shaftmasters”.

He drove his old 356A Porsche to France running a worn out VW engine. He returned with it running a very rare and valuable 4 cam 356 powerplant. You see, to French customs, all race team "spare parts" look alike. ;)

I am planning to go to Washington for a few days at the end of the month, so I can bring back up to $800 worth of goods with no tax or duty. I am going to try installing the LCAs and shifter myself. Even though I have not been very mechanically inclined in the past, I have watched a few installation videos and figure it is something I should be able to handle. It is amazing what you can learn watching Youtube videos these days!

The Canadian import rules have certainly become more lenient in the last few years. Unfortunately it looks like Canada and the US are headed for a trade war, so I expect things may be changing soon :frown2:

I went with the FR GT500 LCA's also. I figured if they were designed to handle a 500+ hp. car, they could handle 315+ easy. I also threw on a set of Roush springs (dropped almost an inch) in the rear to lower it so it sits level. I am still running the never mentioned anymore, Hurst shifter. Hey, in almost 10 years of ownership it's been speed shifted thru all the gears maybe 5-6 times and I'm one of those that like the notchiness of the shifter. Sitting here now trying to decide on either larger front & rear sway bars or the aluminum driveshaft...….. >:)

I installed the MGW shifter, best out there, easy DIY install with their website's video instructions. That, with the sound insulation MGW supplies for the trans tunnel hole was a great upgrade. (You'd be surprised how much noise comes out of the transmission tunnel.) Speaking of noise, I replaced the crappy fiberboard trunk floor under the carpet with a thin sheet of wood cut to the same dimensions - I have a post about this somewhere on the IMBOC website. You'd be surprised how much less road noises passes into the passenger compartment through that fiberboard garbage on the highway.

Road noise? What road noise? ...I typically drive with the windows open, and the noise from the FRS 500 exhaust drowns out everything else - in a good way :)

I put a piece of dense foam (2'x2'x1/2" +/-) between my full size spare and the crappy fiberboard panel, in the trunk, so if I ever close the windows and slow down, hopefully it will have a similar noise reduction effect.

Glad to hear you like the MGW shifter. I am glad I asked around before ordering the Barton, since the consensus seems to be that the MGW is the best.

Keep the sway bars and get poly bushings and new links. Spend your money on the driveshaft.

Well I ordered the "Boss 302" rear sway bar only. I decided the stock Bullitt front unit was good enough since I don't motorcross or anything like that, just upping street handling a little, but later on... As far as the driveshaft, it'll be in the box with the sway bar. I'll teach my kids and grandkids to stiff me on Father's Day, inheritance just went down a few hundred dollars and maybe more later. >:)

Quick Update:
I picked up the parts last weekend during my recent trip to Washington state. I installed an intake air filter and a cabin air filter as soon as I returned. While I had the air cleaner dismantled i also installed some brighter Sylvania headlight bulbs.

Today I installed the MGW shifter. It was a pain to install, although I would describe it it as more awkward than difficult. Getting access to the required parts of the car proved challenging. Once installed, the change to the shifter feel is dramatic. The MGW shifter is a big improvement over stock. The action is very precise and provides a far more mechanical feel (similar to a good quality bolt action rifle). The spring loaded self centering makes the 2- 3 shift almost foolproof. I did notice that the self centering action can make it easy to accidentally shift from 1 to 4 if you are not paying enough attention to shifting precisely (ie: slowly pulling away in stop and go traffic). I found I need to provide a slight amount of left pressure to go from 1 -2, (rather than 1-4) - I'm sure it will become second nature after a bit more practice.
