Very interesting read....I was surprised to read what it was that they did to the H pipe, i.e. somewhat blocking off the cross-over...interesting....

That said, I love the sound of Karen's Bullitt. It has gotten better over the months as well....

Just this week, I arranged a trade with a guy back in Indiana. I swapped him my Flowmaster AT's for his stock Bullitt mufflers. I am anxious to hear what they sound like on my 05, combined with the JBA shorties......

Thanks for posting,
Mike
Shawn Carney is a cool guy and he did a bang on job on Bullitt:smile:

Thanks for posting Greg.
Interesting article. It makes me think that maybe I should buy a set of Bullitt mufflers and H-pipe to keep for replacement in the future to ensure that I get the same sound.
Nice find! Quite interesting.
Good article. I'm thinking what Ken's thinking.
I wonder what the I.D. on the h-pipe from a regular GT is?
Great info.!! Kinda follows how I modified my X-pipe setups on both Mustangs, but they can be changed to wide open flow.
Nice find ............

Hi Greg,

I'm sure you have been around these parts but I have not seen Post by You in awhile.

Thought maybe you were doing the New Baby thing.........

Interesting about the way the sound was achieved on the Bullitt (2008/2009).

GREAT article !
I love the sound of my Bullitt and I am glad that I changed my Bullitt axle-backs with the Ford Racing axle-backs.
I wanted louder without changing the sound!
I wouldn't touch the H-Pipe !

I see you are concidering a Aluminum driveshaft?
I love my Aluminum driveshaft, I noticed a differance in my launches!
I weighed my old driveshaft and Bullitt axle-backs and this is the differance
@ -40lbs Aluminum Driveshaft + @ -22 lbs Ford Racing axle-backs= @-62 lbs
Leaner and meaner Bullitt

Inland Empire drive shaft.
I was able to upgrade my u-joints.

I bought that driveshaft for my 07 Mustang GT Automatic. When I traded in my 07 for my Bullitt the dealership gave me my Aluminum driveshaft back to me. Then I took a cut in pay at my job one month after I got my Bullitt.
I tried to sell it on E-Bay for some extra cash, and the people that bid on it wanted to give me penny's on the dollar. So I decided that Im going to put it in to my Bullitt.
I am very happy with my decision.

Putting it in the Bullitt makes sense to me.

Well I have never been accused of being smart:redface:
I think it was Marc who first discovered the 'H' pipe secret here.

Shawn Carney may well be our S197_guy

Ok, after reading this I see why I can't get the sound I want from the Bullitt. It's the crossover orfice stuck in the exhaust system.

I purchased 2 different catbacks trying to get the sound I want and with both I get that "kackle" sound that is not pleasing to my ears. With a crossover the "Kackle" is not present, it gives a more smooth sound.

To me, and yes sound is an opinion of the beholder, I like the sound that a crossover gives better.

I have put them in my exhaust systems since I discovered that sound years ago.

Now, I would like to have a full crossover system without the orfice. I do not want to cut the original or do I want to void the warranty by using an aftermarket midpipe.

My option may be to use the midpipe from the GT which does not have the orfice. The question is, will '08 GT midpipe fit the Bullitt?

If it does then there would not be a warranty issue and the dealer would not know the difference nor could he tell.

The only warranty voided by using an aftermarket midpipe would be the midpipe replaced. Nothing else would be voided.

Whats the big deal?
