ALL 3V 4.6 motors are basically the same motor.
the differences between them are cams and intakes for the type of car they are installed in..
even the 2V and 4V motors share the same basic short block. i believe they started making them in 90 and used the same basic design until the coyote motors in 2011. even this motor extremely similar to the early motors.
i currently have a block from a 04 Mach 1 in my car now. it has the 3V heads on it.
i have no personal experiences with high miles mod motors. i have seen a LOT of them with over 200K miles on them.
from what i have read about them . the timing chains need replacing once the miles add up. if that has been done the motors will run forever.

I guess I'll be the highest so far here at 100,137, but there are many here with more I'm sure, though I don't consider that high mileage for a 15 y.o. unit. The car has been, as stated "bullitt proof". I bought it new and the only time it was taken back to the dealer was for that infamous transmission buzzing issue that later was solved by me with a thick piece of two sided tape after the dealer claimed they couldn't find the noise. No problems at all with the 4.6 ever, except it should have had about 20hp more.

My parents had an '06 Explorer with the 3V 4.6 in it and it was still going strong at 290k when the transmission gave out. New spark plugs, coil packs and a belt were the only new parts ever put on/in that engine. They bought it with 35k on it and sent it to the scrap yard at 290k because of the cost to replace the transmission. No doubt it would have gone over 300k. They used Mobil 1 synthetic and changed it every 10-12k miles. Never used any oil and consistently got 18-20mpg. It was also really hard on the right rear tire.

Just before putting 0320 away in October for the winter nap the Speedo was reading 117,657 miles. Still running hard, mods include cams, Ford Racing 62mm throttle body, long tubes, deletion plates, under drive pulleys, front big break conversion and custom tune, lowered suspension still runs like a dream.

I currently have 185,543 on my 2008 Bullitt, owned since 2011. I used to drive everyday to work (pre covid) but now that I work remotely, those miles don't go up as much as they used too. I did replace all the timing components (used ford racing products) along with Ford racing cams and 2013 GT500 oil pump. I do have OCD tendencies, so i do a lot of preventive maintenance and part replacement. Honestly, it could probably go for another 150k if not more, as long as the maintenance gets done. I doubt it will reach that high since I'm getting an itchy finger to rip open the motor but I need to decide what type of force induction I'm going to go with

timming chain or clutch yet ????
I did the clutch at 150k because it blew up but not timing components. When I replaced the valve cover gaskets, I checked the top end. No unusual wear so I sealed it, after a while I swapped to Trinity aluminum oil pan, checked the bottom end, again, no unusual wear so I sealed it. I don’t and never use synthetic or high end fluids. I use 5-30 motorcraft oil and filter, synchromesh for trans fluid and 85-90 dino oil for the rearend all from autozone. I don’t do preventive maintenance on any engine. If it’s gonna blow, it’s gonna blow no matter what. I pay more attention to brakes, tires and suspension parts often since these are critical parts. Every weekend I take this car to the canyon, I send it. I can’t disclose how fast I drive up there because I will probably get flamed on here for irresponsible individual. I just got the hood and front fenders painted due to all rock chips. Only real necessary parts I threw at this car so far are: one coil pack, aluminum driveshaft, rear diff, interior armrest, metal coolant line thingy under the intake, lower radiator hose, 2 relays, a belt and a radio. My advice is to just change oil often, drive it and don’t worry if it’s not broken.

6405 Just rolled over 150k, been a daily/only car since 2009 with 19 miles on it :), it still takes the beating every time I drive it! - A few things needed to be replaced - the clutch at 130k~miles, a hose under the intake manifold, replaced the fuse box & radiator fan because the fan had burned up the fuse box on the high speed fan relay. been doing royal purple motor oil since maybe 45k miles? redline in the tranny, i forgot what i did for the diff just recently. got BMR UCA/LCA, BMR Kmember & arm brace, whiteline sways, ford springs, koni yellows
