I see they have the foglights and running pony emblem. Must be a police requirement so they installed the regular GT front grill. It ruins the look, me no like.

Ya know, on second thought, I wouldn't doubt that the vehicle was seized as part of a drug bust. They'll often label those seized vehicles as specialized crime and narcotics task force vehicles or "just say no to drugs" vehicles and use them as exhibits or trophies. Perhaps?

If I were the Chief of Police of Kingsville PD (which I am not) I would be the only one in the department authorized to drive that Bullitt...but not on rainy days...gotta keep the machine clean for car shows, cruise events, etc. It would be my take-home car during its time in service...and I would authorize myself to purchase it at its end of service for a ridiculously low amount of $...we'll say $5. That's what I would do.

Police Car

In response to the statements...

First law enforcement officals in Texas are frowned upon for buying vehicles through public auctions. Especially seized cars.Thats in what i would like to refer to as the "gray area".
Second our Bullit was not seized it was purchased brand new.
Third, the car is used 100% on the road (highway patrol) it was not purchased for the only purpose of car shows.etc. However, I will admit, you are correct in bad weather we do not use it for patrol.
Fourth we are a stand alone agency. One of the continuing missions of the Task Force is Criminal Highway Interdiction. We are a self sustaining organization, ALL of our budget derives from assets forfeitures we seize from the interstate. We do not utilize any government grant monies or tax payer dollars to operate from year to year.

Front GT grill

As earlier mentioned the GT grill had to be added. The first option was to mount a push bumper.. No way!.. This definatly would have ruined the look of the car. This was done because we needed external lighting, its a police saftey issue! For those who are police officers, I am sure you understand. Again this vehicle is a working police car, certain things are a nessesary evil. Not to worry I still have the original grill. There is simply no trade off for officer saftey!

Sorta looks like this one.

That's my Bullitt behind it. The police car had just come in from an out of town trip.

Our county sheriff's department bought the Grabber Orange GT with forefitures and siezed funds , Turned around and turned it into a D.A.R.E. car for special events at schools,They put some funky window decals on the door windows to make it look like a net from a nascar , Thought they had something pretty cool till I parked next to it in my Bullitt and all the deputies swarmed over to look at my car as I waited for my wife , Deputy sheriff walked out and I said they could've at least bought something faster than my car,He laughed and as he walked away I asked if they had any confiscated radar detectors going to aution this year . I'll have to get some pics of it for here
