I'm going to http://www.bradscustomauto.com to pick up #1790 right now. They just finished the long tube header and cat'd h-pipe install. I'll post my impressions as soon as I get back! Wish me luck.

Brad

I'm back! Holy SHINTO! I'm smiling so hard it hurts. First, the sound is incredible! Second, it revs soooo smooth. Third, big SOTP power increase. The torque is awesome. I found a dyno nearby and will have it done in the next week or so. The install took 10 hours! With one more hour to fabricate new flow tubes for the mufflers. They removed the k-frame to do the install and it was expensive. Try 11 hours @ $70.00 per. Not many people in the Seattle area have the experience to do this install, including me, so I had to bite the BULLITT. There is a ground clearance issue as the new system hangs just over 4 inches from the pavement. That should improve about 1/4 - 1/2 inch when I put my new wheels and tires on. It is raining here, big surprise, so I did not get to romp on it, but I'll let you know as soon as I do. So far I am really happy with the install and have forgot about the cost already. I looked at the stock manifold and they are pretty laughable. It's the first thing the shop guys noticed too. I'll take some pictures as soon as I get some light. More to come...

Hey Brad I told you would like it. Enjoy and be careful 'cause the torque comes on quick and strong til you get used to it.

Here are some pics...

This is what I was replacing. Not much to look at, but you can see the restriction.

This is a shot of the clearance. Keep in mind my car is lowered.

There isn't much room to work under there. Guess that's why they removed the k-frame.

Here's a shot of both of the headers. You can see how these would uncork the exhaust.

Here's the h-pipe. The flow tubes on the mufflers had to be replaced with ones that had 2 1/2 inch cones to match the 2 1/2 inch balls on the h-pipe.

This shot is taken from the driver's side down to the steering shaft. Notice how the shaft is threaded through the headers. Tight quarters.

I am so glad that I did not try this myself. The cost was well worth not having the headache.

Brad

Mike,

Every time I try to open it up I run into traction problems due to the rain. As far a gains go, I would only be guessing. It is significant. That I can tell you. I will be taking it to Dyno Authority in Redmond, WA in the next week or so. I'm hoping for 300 HP at the engine. It should be close.

Brad,

Can hardly wait to hear your dyno results. Those headers just look awesome. Their like two fine breast, I can’t stop looking at them. I think I would have to have a mirrored garage floor just so I could see them everyday if they were on mine! Sorry to geek out like that, but I just couldn’t help it!

Brad, those are awesome.
I've got the 1 5/8" equal lengths in the shorty chromes and there is absolutely no better sound!!!
I can just imagine what the "wail" sounds like now at 5500!
It looks like you've got decent ground clearance.

JP,

Thanks! The ground clearance shouldn't be an issue if I just pay attention to the parking lot speed bumps. I can't believe how good these mufflers sound! #1790 snorts, snarls and howls like a rabid dog!
