if things work out, wife and I will leave VERY early thursday morning, do the whole shebang in one day, but depending on where ya'll stop on wed night during the trip, we might just hit your locale around your depart time and we can convoy the latter half of the trip with a whole freakin' line of Bullitts!!!

Amen. Since I plan on keeping mine on the road for 150,000 and it is 2500 miles round trip - the Tulsa run will be only .o16% of the miles I plan on driving her.

See - we make anything logical. Rational. Justified .
Yep, this trip will give me my yearly mileage all in a couple of days.

Sounds good to me. And we'll pick up others on the way. I figured leave Wed. morning, stay overnight somewhere, roll in Thurs. afternoon, start prepping for the parking lot party!
By the way I have like 4 walkies we can use....Jim and I used them last time on the road...better than using up cell time.

Anybody gonna be coming through Kansas? I'll be heading down from Wichita, so if anybody will be coming through that way, we could all head down together. Are we gonna be trying to get a block of hotel rooms, or just everybody get their own? And if anybody wants to just fly in and leave the Bullitt at home, you can ride with me. I'll have an open seat.

Thinkin' of attending this one. Gotta get the wife on board with this. I don't plan on driving 2679 to this, but will look into renting or borrowing a trailer. I have a Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn Edition - plenty of towing power.

OK guys....it's getting closer!!! BTW for those of you that have never been to this event there is a cruise on Thursday evening that is not to be missed. They block off one several blocks of the streets and everyone cruises down and parks and has a good time. There's an old Tulsa tradition root beer stand there where they make their own root beer and have great burgers, or there's a sonic across the street. The caravan leaves the motel around 6pm so try to make it for that.

Ok so I'm very interested in doing this. What do I need to do? Reserve a hotel room? How do I get to become part of the Thursday drive you guys are talking about?

I have never done any of this, very very green. And I just bought my bullitt a little over a week ago (and loving every freaking min that I drive it lol) and I would really like to do something like this.

Here is the deal. Just go to www.bullittnationals.net and look for the registration and lodging buttons. Registrations gets your car into the Bullitt Nationals and you can also order a shirt. Lodging has the hotel info for the Nats. After you complete those, you can pre register for the Mid America event that we are tagging along with. This thread: http://www.imboc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139181 print the form out and send it in with your payment. Most people are not going to the banquet so don't pay for it. If you want to do the road course it's $135, drag racing is $35 and if you just want to spectate and hang out it's only $35.

Fom what I read, no, but if you pre-register the car show is free. Otherwise you have to pay $30.00 for the car show. If you don't want to go to the car show, then don't worry about pre registering. I plan on at least going to the car show, and I'm not paying $30.00 no matter how good the show is.

I'm confused (stay that way a lot). I pre-registered for the Bullitt nats, so do I have to pre-register for the car show or anything else separately?

You Have to register for the Mid Amerca event separately. The $35 a person fee gets you admission to all events. To drag race is $35 more and to road race is $135 more.

Mid American Shelby Meet

FYI:

As an attendee of the past six or seven Shelby meets I must mention. If you plan on going out to the drags on Saturday. They WILL NOT let you race if you are in shorts and you MUST have a helmet. I know this sucks b/c it's usually like 1000 degrees everytime we are at the drags.

As for Hallett, even if you don't plan on racing bring a helmet. Ford is notorious for giving joy-rides in some pretty sweet cars. Last year it was a Shelby GT-500(but it overheated) and the year before was a Ford GT. Ask Ezekial...I remember him having a video of his Ford GT ride.

And in closing, and as I have mentioned in the past. Ford is known to debut some pretty cool cars at this event. Mach 1, California Special(i.e. JC Whitney), and several more...I have a strong feeling the Bullitt will debut this year, especially w/ the attendance of all us Bullitt guys.

Anyway, if anybody has questions about the event or even Tulsa (as that's where I live) give me a shout.
