2008 Bullitt Real or not

Hi All,
New to the group and to the Bullitt world. I did try to search the forums but can't seem to find information. I got hooked on an auction in carsandbids last week that I actually lost on. lol. Now looking at another 2008 I found online. How can you tell if the Bullitt is legitimate? All the 2008 Bullitts I've seen on Youtube and what I almost bought last week doesn't have an engine cover, doesn't have navigation and doesn't have chrome door speakers. Does anyone else in the group have those in their 2008 Bullitt? Also, do all of them have to have the button to change ambient lighting? This one I'm looking at doesn't. Appreciate the help!

I have a Black 09 and it has ambient lighting, xm radio and the option for nav but I don't have, that's the difference between the 08 and 09. What do you mean by doesn't have an engine cover?

Hi Kevin, I'm talking about the cover in this picture. Everything on Youtube doesn't seem to have that cover. Also, do you have a chrome trim on your door speakers?

That's a plastic aftermarket cover that comes off easily. No chrome on the speakers and it's the stock shaker 500

Assuming you're looking at a Dark Highland Green car, I'd think you'd be pretty safe against counterfeiting. Only Bullitts left the factory in that color. Seems to me the expense of a good quality repaint would be more than the price addition of the car being a Bullitt. For What it's worth, I recall reading here that all the '09's had ambient lighting, while it was optional on the '08's. Can't imagine why anyone would want to add an engine cover & chrome speaker covers, but you never know. Navigation was an option...

Thanks! It is the dark Highland green. I was just concerned because I’ve only seen the engine cover on non-Bullitt GTs and have not seen the chrome on the speakers. Maybe the chrome speakers came with the nav option. The tail lights have been replaced too which is not too bad looking, actually.
Original Bullitt owner since 2008. As previously mentioned, the factory highland green color pretty much confirms Bullitt originality. The engine turned metal finish of the interior dash panels are unique for the 2008-2009 MY Bullitt edition. Along with the unique logo within the speedometer cluster. Hope this helps.

Other unique clues are the BULLITT logo without crosshairs on the driver airbag cover, BULLITT in correct font on the door sill plates, the engine cross support with the center FORD RACING/BULLITT plate with build # and VIN matching body VIN, the unique cold air intake with smooth exterior tube and the 2 bladders extending below (later GT lacked the 2 bladders and had ribbed exterior tube), black "FORD RACING" logo on the open CAI box (later model GT painted logo), rear faux BULLITT gas door, and chrome surround front grill.
Look at front quarter panels between wheel well and door for bodywork, as Bullitt's had no mounting hole for GT logo.
The optional stereo 6 disc had NAV but no chrome on the front door subwoofers.
The seats were black leather, 6-way power driver with power lumbar, manual seat back recline. The passenger seat was all manual. No heat option for either seat.
The gold standard would be a Marti report or Ford certificate by VIN.

Thank you everyone. If this is a fake, the owner did a whole lot to make it look real! lol. We'll see what happens. Thanks again!
A previous owner of my 08 installed that exact same engine cover piece as well. That's the first thing that I yanked off. It just doesn't look right with the tower brace on top of it.
Not all Bullitts have button for ambient lighting.
Mine had that same crappy cover as well when I got it back in 2020. Very first thing to go right in the trash.
It's not like the Bullitt is a wildly rare and desirable model that people will pay big dollars to clone. But regardless you can just check the door jamb label for the paint code - if it was an original Dark Highland Green car, it will be PX or PY. If the label is missing, or has a different paint code than those - it's been painted. Not taking into account the black versions, of course - but that's outside the bounds of this discussion.
