Baseline:
Stock (700 miles and K&N):

Max power SAE corrected:

Max Power:230.2 rwhp
Max Torque: 266.5 rwtq

2nd dyno :
(Bassani X pipe, 3.73 gears, Densecharger)

Max power SAE corrected:

Max Power 234.1 rwhp
Max Torque 268.0 rwtq

3rd dyno:
BBK LT's, Steeda underdrive pulleys, 3.73's, Densecharger)

Max power SAE corrected:

Max power 254.9 rwhp
Max Torque 283.8 rwtq

I can't say enough good things about the BBK LT's. I can't believe the gain in HP and torque throughout the entire rpm range. I'll scan my dyno chart and post it here so everybody can see what a difference the LT's make.

Eric

Hey Eric, I got stuck at work later than expected, otherwise I would have been there. That's great numbers from the long tubes. I'm getting the Spin Techs installed soon, then to the dyno.

Eric, I am hot for your headers! Horsepower and great looks all in one package! Excellent numbers! Now I'm faced with more decisions! How much better can it get? It was good to meet you in S.F., keep up the good work, Cheers! Tony

roushraven,

One of the most interesting things is we were trying to burn a chip to maximize the HP for my mods and everything we tried didn't work. We leaned it out a little and lost HP we richened it up a little and lost hp. We tweaked the timing and it only showed like a 2 ft/lb gain. We decided that the chip wasn't worth it so we pulled it out and decided to leave it stock. I have to say Byron at R.A.C.E Systems is a stand up guy. Apex Motorsports and Byron spent over an hour on my car and they only charged me for the pulls on the dyno. Excellent customer service.

Now I just have to figure out what to do next. Any suggestions

Eric, I had the same problem when my longtubes were installed down in Socal. I'm not convinced that there isn't any more to be had by custom tuning I think it's just a matter of finding the tuner who knows how to best tweak it. Next up for me and already in the works are polished and ported heads with Crane cams and ModMax valve springs (from Shannan Wheeler aka "the game"). Judging from results already dyno proven by guys on www.stangnet.com and www.corral.net I should be sitting firmly between 305-315 rwhp. Stay tuned

Arthur,

I would think the same thing, but Byron knows what he is doing very well. He has an excellent reputation and has been doing this for quite some time. He basically told me that he could get some gains for me, but they would be minor and he didn't think it was worth the cost of the chip for the gains I would see. The only things that can really be tweaked for power are A/Fand timing. He tweakeed both, with negative results tweaking the A/F, and only small gains by bumping the timing 3 degrees. With the 91 octane in CA he felt it wasn't worth risking detonation for 2-3 ft/lb torque. What is most amazing is that my A/F ratio was way better this time than on previous trips. IT was right around 12:1 the whole rpm range. Previous pulls have shown the A/F as rich as 10.8:1. I can't complain it saved me about $500 not having to get the chip.

It was great to see Eric's Bullitt up on the Dyno, and with the headers, it sounded awesome. I was really impressed with Byron and the guys @ Apex - they did about a dozen pulls, tweeking a/f ratios and timing, trying to find the best combination. And I was really impressed that it ran the best stock from FORD - unbelievable! Who wudda thunk???

Eric, if I were you, then I'd be researching 1) free flow (straight thru) mufflers, 2) better tires, 3) tweeking the suspension. $$ for $$, for more power I think best bet is a blower, as opposed to tearing the engine down (heads, intake, more compression, etc...). My advise is after the mufflers, then focus on other parts of the car that need tweeking - this will balance the car (power, handling, braking).

I'm really glad I stopped by this afternoon...

See ya soon,

Randy,

I am glad you stopped by. It was cool of Bill to take the time to show us around and BS with us. Byron is a nice guy and I like talking to Vince because he knows these cars inside and out.

I think you're on the right track about where to go from here. I'm still up in the air about the exhaust. It's a tough call becasue I like the sound of the Bullitt, but I like Hp and torque also. I'm definitely getting CC plates and soon. I really need to think long and hard before I dig into the suspension.

Eric, I wasn't doubting your guy at Apex, just like with your experience I too couldn't get a single significant gain with the dyno chip tuning. However, Paul Svinicki promises that his custom chip can give you better throttle response and an extended power curve. My car's computer does not like his chip so I'll have to wait until I return to the states in April to get him to personally sort it out. Just for curiosity sake I replaced the stock cat-back with the Steeda cat-back system and gained and additional 5 rwhp and 7 ft-lbs but again I'll wait until I return to the states so that I can confirm my results on a dyno-jet chassis dyno. Anyway, my hat's off to your tuner looks like he did a great job. Look forward to meeting you and the guys on http://www.fnsweet.com when I go to Newark, CA with the wife to visit the in-laws. Stay tuned --- Arthur

You better ring us when you get into town!

I look forward to meeting you.

I really want to take the honor of the most powerful N/A Bullitt away from you. I'm thinking a Bassani Cat back might put me over the top. Only until you get your port and polish!

Sorry yopu missed it. Randy (cobra427), my friend Mark, My friend Kevin, and I had a good time. I think we were all a little shocked with the improvement over my semi-stock passes.

I asked Bill about Spintechs and he said he thought they were decent but felt a straight through exhaust like the magnaflow or Bassani was the better way to go for big HP gains.

Here is a post of the dynoscan with Long Tubes overlayed on the dynoscan of aprevious pull before the headers were installed.

Refer to my original post in this thread for the results if you can't read the numbers on this scan.

Bullitt00208 outstanding numbers! I will try and scan a flow comparison between the spintechs and the other major muffler brands...spintech out flowed all the other brands by far, the only one it didnt outflow was the borla in which the flow rates were equal. I too wanted the most flow and was thinking the same thing you are...straight through...but then I researched the spintechs and found the flow rates due to the scavenging effect of their muffler were equal to the best flowing straight throughs out there.

BULLITT00208...
Good numbers there. I'm hoping to pick up another 3 to 5 RWHP when I get my JBA Cat4ward shorties installed.

You should pick up some more horespower with the JBA's. I'm being told I should go with a straight through exhaust like the Magnaflow's or Bassani cat-back. I was told I would probably see another 7-10 HP/TQ by doing this.

Tyler,

I ordered them from Brothers Performance. If you go to my how-to on the install there is a link to the site and the part numbers are there. They are ceramic coated.

They are a great mod,

Eric
