I had the FRP 3.73 gear installed yesterday....what a difference!! I easily red-lined it in 2nd gear. With the 3.27 gear at 50 mph in 4th gear, I was turning 2000 RPM - with the 3.73 the RPM is about 2400. I am very satisfied with this mod!

FOR CHICAGOLAND BULLITTHEADS.......I had the gear swap done at Dupage Transmissions in Lisle, IL.(near Naperville). I know the owners, Pete and Wally (father and son). Their charge for the labor is 275.00 (with owner supplied gear oil). The price may seem a little steep but Pete has been doing custom work on cars for years and is excellent. He also owns a 1997 GT convertible and is contemplating a new Cobra... Their number is 630-369-2108, ask for Pete and tell him Dave recommended you.

I installed the Dallas Mustang SpeedCal box myself without much hassle. Just be sure to place the blue and green wires from the SpeedCal box into the connector shell exactly as pictured. I reversed them and the speedo indicated 80 mph instead of 10 mph! DOH!

Thanks to all of you who posted here with experiences and impressions of the 3.73 gear. It made my decision easier!!

$275....I think he robbed you. I paid $100 to have them installed, and did the abbott install myself. Well, I guess if you are happy with the work thats all that matters. Glad to hear your satisfied. 4.10's are also fun!!

Quote from 3545's other posting

"Gman,
I think it looks pretty good. The pictures dont give the flames any justice. Dont be upset, theres always a++holes that have to knock someone elses ride. Keep your head up high and be proud of your unique looking bullitt"

Don't worry about paying more than others DDFDA for the install. There's always a**holes that wants to tell you they got a better deal and that you were a sucker. Enjoy those gears.

Looks like we have a p*ssing match here. I think the next time he wants to get some mods done he should check some other shops first. If the market isnt there and not many shops to choose from then he has no choice. I am no way bashing him for paying more for an install, just keeping him aware you can get it done cheaper. As far as you go(Y2) you made fun of someones car. Gman is proud of his car and you guys slap him in the face. I find that being real cool....

No p*ssing match.....I checked the local Ford dealer that does alot of speed mods as well as a local speedshop. They were both in the 300.00 range and I don't know ANYBODY in their shops. There is something to be said for personally knowing the dude who is working on our cars. I always shop around and I imagine most Bullitt owners do too. :-B

This isn't a p*ssing match. I, and I'd imagine the others that made a negative post about the flames, didn't appreciate being called an a++hole for stating an opinion. This is my way of saying you can be one too. End of rant. I'm over it.

On the topic, I have the gears but haven't had them installed yet. Can anyone recommend someone to do the work in the Philadelphia area?

Around here the cheapest install is 150.00 and up.. I will get mine done for that and be happy..Several people go to this same place for 250.00 thats doing mine for 150, and they smile all day long..I cant wait to get mine installed.

Great news on the gears! ow you're just gonna have to take it to the strip and see how she runs!
And don't worry 'bout what you paid. If you know the guy and he stands behind his work.. It's worth every penny. I'd rather pay an extra 100 bucks for a quality job than save a hundred and have it botched or have someone who doesn't care at all about their work.
Since you're in the Chicago area.. what tracks do you usually run to?

My thoughts exactly. I feel OK paying my guy maybe a little extra for the peace of mind in knowing the job is done right.
