there is a kid over in stangnet that got 303 rwhp from his 96gt going n/a. Wha do you think that we would have to do to get this kind of power for our cars. There is someone on this site who had a 318 stroker motor put into his car. he said he was looking for 375-400 hp out of it on pump gas. I thought that this is safer then a s/c and about half as much. Ported heads intake new cams full exhaust timing adjuster and forgerd internals would give somebody a really good shot. any ideas?

On this site there are at least two Bullitts (me and Brad1790) that have dyno'd just shy of 260 rwhp and 295 tq on exhaust mods (LT and off road pipe), and Steeda underdrive crank and water pulley. So I'm positive that I'll be there very soon. I have new P&P'd heads with Crane regrinds and ModMax springs on the way. Those heads added to my current mods plus a custom chip tune should put me squarely where the guy you're referencing is at since we share common mods. Then once Paul Svinicki's intake is done my guess is 310-315 rwhp. Sounds ridiculous but all I can say is...Stay tuned.

Dont you guys care about the warranty? It seems like an awful lot of money to spend on a new car just to have the warranty negated as well. Ohh well, I guess you all have more money than you need.

No. I want the car MY way not the way some guy at Ford thought it should be to please the masses. That takes precendence over warranty.
I enjoy warranties, though...but if my mods don't cause the problem I'll expect service. I've been to the dealer with problems several times now with the mods listed below and have had warranty services performed with no questions asked.

Speak nicely to others or don't speak at all. Technically, we ALL have more money than we deserve to be driving a beautiful sportscar like the Bullitt.

I haven't voided my warranty, in fact my local Ford service center does all the work on my car. If I develope a notchy transmission or the infamous death rattle (and so far I haven't) would it be because of my mods? Simply adding parts alone cannot void a warranty. As far as mods go, if anything fails it must be shown that the failure was caused by the part/parts added. I understand however, that there are always exceptions, heck some service department's say they'll void for having installed a K&N or short throw shifter. As for the often raised question of value for collectibility I would never consider a car, any car, a good choice for investment. When it comes down to it, it's all a matter of what a person is willing to pay. I have personally seen burned out and rusted shells of two "classic" Jaguars purchased for ridiculous prices just so that the buyer could spend even more ridiculous amounts of money to restore them to concours condition and store them in his garage. As for me I bought my car to enjoy as I like and so far everthing I have added/modded makes me like it even more and perform even better.
Stay tuned ---- Arthur

No way you going to get over 350-400 HP out of the 2V 4.6,and retain any kind of drivability on the street,in N/A form. You can't go much larger on valve size, due to the small bore. Also the compression would have to be way up there...11.0 or better, not to mention a radical cam, with no low end at all. Folks, the same rules apply here whether,1970 or 2002,carbed or EFI when running N/A. Also a fully stroked version only comes to 318 cubes at the most. Now what is that? Not much for the money spent, plus the heads won't flow enough air in 2 valve form to help the extra inches. If the Mod engine had of stuck with the 4.0 inch bore and 3.0 stroke (302) with the advantage of the overhead cam, with some decent head flow, that would have been real sweet and smart! Air flow is why Ford went with the 4V head on the Cobra!

Since my Bullitt is my daily driver, I do care about warranty, thus no mods. Once the warranty expires, or I get another car for daily use, which won't happen until I get a house, I'll start seriously thinking about mods.

Ditto Dennis & well said. Modded Bullitt 4009 has been to Ford concerning her engine check light twice. The first time they replaced the 02 Sensor -- no charge, and I know they had to see the nasty looking SC and big ole X Pipe. The second time, I asked them to just give me the code, and they did, again no charge. They also are replacing the cracked plastic seat control panel, again at no charge.

I'm not expecting to have my Bullitt's pistons replaced, but warranty issues need to be looked at on a case by case basis, especially for n/a Bullitts with some mods. I bet they can still get significant warranty service.

Micah, make sure you include a BIG garage in those house plans!!! Note, a 24x24 is never big enough.

You are absolutely right. My garage is 24' x 24'. Now in the planning phase for adding a work shop/game room in back of my current garage. This one will be 24' x 40'. Lets see, home to the Bullitt, a 5' x 10' pool table, 'fridge, and a few other nik naks.

Funny thing, every Ford guy I talk to asks me what I've done to my car. When I tell them it's stock, they cringe.
One guy has it real bad and has his 95 in the low 12's. He even starts talking smack about how slow my car is.
I didn't have the heart to tell him, but if I wanted to go fast I would have bought a Chevy. It's just so much easier and cheaper.
I bought the Bullitt cause it looks great. It goes fast enough to get me into all kinds of trouble!!!!
Re: warranty issues, If I wanted to mod the car I'd wait until the warranty was up.
I believe in Murphys law.
If you arn't concerened about it, great! You worry less than the rest of us.

I was looking into doing a N/A 350+rwhp. I just feel NA is the best way to go. But it'll be expensive and yeah, the streetability is compromised by the radical cams and such.

So I've decided to get as much as possible before I go Pro-Charged.
