UGGGGHH! Another one down! What's happening? Are these cars cursed? I'm so sorry to keep reading these posts. I really feel sick for you 3106. But like all the others that have lost or nearly lost their Bullitts, be grateful there was no loss of life or no very serious injuries.

Two months to fix the car? Twisted frame? Both ends destroyed? And the insurance company wants to fix it? I'd have to fight that one. After that much damage, I wouldn't want it back.

Sorry to hear about the car 3106. You'd think these cars were associated with the Bruce Lee family instead of the McQueen family with all of the appearant bad luck. If the car can be fixed, I'd tell the body shop to take their time and do it right. If you do keep the car 20 yrs or so and they are very collectible then you would be okay still. Look at how many 60 stangs show the before and after pics and they were in real bad shape either due to an accident or just neglect. Hang in there and let us know how things are going. You might want to e-mail Lok N Lod because he had his wrecked real bad and got it put back together. He can tell you what to keep an eye on when the body shop gets down with it.

Bullitt3106,

Man, do I ever feel your pain!!!
My first Bullitt was destroyed by a drunk driver, ($22,000 damage) and I had to drive 1000 miles to Idaho to replace it.

The good thing about you living in California is the state gives you specific rights regarding auto repair.

You do not have to have the car fixed by anyone the insurance company suggests, you can take it to a Rolls-Royce dealer's body shop if that it what you choose. You also have the right to have nothing but new OEM Ford parts installed, and you have the right to be compensated for diminished value after the car is repaired.

Above all, considering your injuries, make damn sure you get a decent lawyer, not one of those guys you see on TV, but from a reputable firm. Call your local BAR Association for recommendations. Let the attorney handle everything ie; your medical care, following through with the car repair, loss of consortium etc. It will be best for your piece of mind and best for you getting made whole again.

I speak this from my experience in the auto repair business and actually being a victim in this same type wreck.

Good luck!

Man, sorry to hear that! Glad you are OK! I can't even comprehend how awful that must be for you.

As others have said, these cars seem to have a curse to them. I've been rearended, although no damage beyond a scuff (which I didn't notice until later) was done. However, I've never been rearended while in any other vehicle in my life.

Wonder what statistics would say about the # of wrecked Bullitts, particularly those where the driver was not at fault?

Thanks for all the kind words and support. I knew you guys would understand, most people just don't understand what this car is all about. I'll let you know how things turn out. I'm hoping for the best. Thanks again.

Sorry to read of your loss. Glad you're OK.

I know what you've been through. My '83 5.0 GT Conv. was rear-ended by a Lincoln Town Car doing 70. I was nearly stopped. You will feel that hit for the rest of your life. I still get a stiff neck and shoulder. Make sure you seek immediate medical attention.

I don't see how the insurance thnks a twisted Bullitt can be repaired. I thought that like most modern cars it's unibody construction. You can't un-twist a unidoby an have it come out normal.

Oh My God.

I don't know if I have the words to express my sorrow for you. The most important thing is your wife and children(here and on the way) were not in the car, and you don't have to worry about them.
Oh god, I feel SO BAD for you.

This car is NOT cursed, it is not, it is not, it is NOT.
If I say this enough, will it be true?

Good Luck. Really.

Sorry to hear about your loss! I, like all the others, am glad you are OK.
If they do fix the Bullitt please remember to negotiate for the "Dimunition of Value" on the vehicle. They will do an inspection after the vehicle is repaired. Best of luck to you!

Sorry about the loss!
Did your doors get stuck closed and did your gas tank rupture? I'm refering to a BON article we where discussing a few nights ago, relateing to a serious design flaw in Mustangs of the SN95 family.
Because people are freaking over it. I just think article was just another OH my GOD FORD is trying to kill us again story. Thats is Bull.
Glad your OK!

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate accident. I know how it is to lose a car you really like. On the good side... Even if they can't repair it there is always other great mustangs out there. Best wishes.

I'm surprised their rebuilding it. That new with the kind of damage your talking about should put it close to being not worth it. Tell the insurance company to find you a new car or a slightly used car they can fix yours and resell it if they want. Yes you can fix a unibody car there are points on the car that are used for taking measurments and as long as these points are correct they say the car is ok.

Wow, do I feel the pain with you. Lost mine last Friday night coming home from work. Thank God you are up and around and that your beloved family was not with you. Dealing with insurance companys and estimaters and body shops and all that is like a nightmare, it's like the accident continues. But we will survive it and go on! Best of luck and glad you are okay, DAWN
