Just have to wait and see until someone confirms one way or the other. I can pretty much bet that a 390HP "McQueen Edition" (if there is such a thing) will be out of my price range.

That is a very old rumor and has been killed a long time ago. It's going to have 312HP. Slight bump over stock. No way to practically get 390 HP out of a 4.6 without major engine testing and emissions certifications and even then pretty much impossible without a power adder which there has been no talk of from Ford for a couple of years.

Greg, I would not call my news "rumours", I call them the unexpected Ponysite news:)
And aren't rumours killed by facts?

At least 4 of 5 of my visions, pieced together from mostly insiders words, have something from the real world though. I think sb. called me names back then, when Ford and Hertz were still one company and I predicted the Hertz Shelby a year and a half or so or even earlier before it actually happened. The small bit of info on that one was from sb. who knew it and made his voice heard.
Maybe occasionally Ford people read Ponysite.de :) (and I know it was read back then through some mails I got, also with the BULLITT 2001.)
Anyway I was not speaking in the a.m. "old rumour" about a 4,6 litre engine.
I was talking about this one. Ford can easily find it, if they listen to some insiders, maybe they have, maybe not. I hope they have. And they don't even have to fit it in themselves. There are skilled engineering teams related to Ford, who can do that. Very easy and certainly easy to sell as the McQueen Edition. I am pretty sure, sb. will do it anyway, if not Ford. The costs for this conversion (which can be done in 2 ways) might be higher though, but are well worth the effort of a small team.

call it what you will, but you can bet the bank it ain't gonna happen..... and thats the bottom line cause.........
I usually don't bet, I count one and one more logical, typically I get "2" as a result.
Controlling sometimes makes it 1 1/2, because they think it's enough and customer will rather buy 1 1/2. The customer will decide in the end, wether it's enough for him. Probably they will be not all BULLITT enthusiasts, but some that have heard of a weird guy called McKeen or so with a 70ies muscle car or this green Eleanor flying high.

In this Bullitt 2008,5 case, the bad thing is that "Sales" also thinks 1 1/2 is enough.

I work in Marketing as well and I haven't yet given up hope that there is enthusiast blood somewhere in this "controlled" Ford world.

But you are right, I am afraid it will be like you say. I know very well how decisions are made today. As a BULLITT enthusiast, let me have the vision of a "2" and some people that take care of these visions.
Thrilling cars are not made with acceptance, but with visions in mind and rather sold with emotions on both side for identfication. (You can quote that at the next dealer meeting:)

I hope you get my humour:) I am a handsome guy. Don't shoot:)

Ya never know.

The guessin' ain't over till the cars go down the assembly line.

Remember how we got totally side tracked with the Warner Brothers/McQueen issues that apparently were never a problem? Who knows, maybe Ford has solved the HP issue too.

The Shelby GT has not done extremely well so maybe Ford sees that a lower price and more HP on an all Ford-built car will make the 08 Bullitt a real high-demand car.

Remember, you may get what you wish for ..... then we may be back to BIG ADMs and a long wait for an LE car.

Its aiready been confirmed that the 08 bullitt will only havearound 315HP,suspension upgrades, better flowing exhaust and brakes. It wont be any better than the shelby gt as far as performance is concerned.Thats why i decided to keep my bullitt and put a supercharger on it. GREG

I know everyone has their Ford inside info. Mine told me there is a high HP 4.6 that has been tested and could make the Bullitt, but no one knows for sure.

My sources have confirmed that the 2008 Bullitts will be finished at the Shelby location. Some have said that the new FE blocks that SHELBY are producing, could end up in a 390 cube displacement,410 HP engine for the Bullitt!

I am ready, what about a run to nethercutt and lunch?

I read somewhere that 4 or 5 Bullitts will be shipped to Shelby to get set up for Trans Am racing. It didn't say if they would be ran as Bullitts or just mustangs
