Well I'm 18 and made the biggest mistake of my life. In fact im writing this with 1 arm because the other had a 3 inch long cut and cut a tendon in half along with some muscle. I was going about 80 miles an hour around a gradual turn and my friend was some what close behind. There was a car heading my direction and my car slid around making the front end head towards the other car. I corrected it thinking it was no big deal until it slid all the way the other direction and I flew off the road and the road is on a small hill...Well I came off the road and hit the ditch and the air bags went off, then my car fliped end over end in the air 3 times before hitting the ground and then flipped again. I didn't have my seat belt on and was ejected from the car...The weird part is it felt like someone caught me before I hit the ground. Anyway I was a foot away from my nitrous bottle that was inside the car. I got up as soon as I landed on the ground and my friend stopped and prayed before he got out to find me walking towards his car and with the bottle in my seriously hurt hand. Well I got surgery done and I am finally out of the hospital. Thats it..I'm as sore as hell....1 question anyone know what it will cost to buy my car back? It's totally gone even a lot of the interior and all the wheels are broke and bent. Motor trans and 2 front seats are all I see that's good.

Rest in peace DHG # 4664..

Damn! What is it with this stuff!!

Glad to hear you are alright dude, but starting to worry that we have a Porsche Spyder on our hands (i.e. cursed).

Not to be morbid, but did you get pics of her? it sounds like you were downright lucky/blessed that you are typing to us right now.

Time for that (regratably) Bullitt graveyard.

We're all very thankful that someone 'caught' you. You can be sure that all of our thoughts are with you.

You may not feel lucky right now, but, by the sound of it, you must truly be lucky. In a few months you'll realize the blessings you've received.

Forget about the Bullitt. You're OK!

Glad to hear that you are OK.

I frequent NB frequently. What road were you on? Since I am right up the road from you I want to be careful if I am on the same road.

Keep safe maybe a MACH1 will be right around the corner for you.

Hey 4664,

That is one HECK of a story. Sorry to hear about the Wreck though! Good advice for you though... SLOW DOWN! Next time may not be so lucky.

Back when I worked in the Body Shops, the customer had first choice to purchase back the totaled car. Check with your Insurance Company on that one.

You may want to look at some of the Bullitts that are for sale here already. You might be able to get a good deal.

Take care and I'm glad you are ok!

Next-time wear your seat-belt. One of my good friends was killed instantly because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. And she wasn't going 80 mph in a mustang. She was going 40 mph in a Lexus SC300. Seatbelts are there for a reason. I'm glad to hear that you're doing fine, you probably could have easily died. As for someone catching you, I have also felt that. I was mountain biking and fell off a 13-foot straight cliff in an abnormal position. I had a dent in my helmet, but it felt like someone had 'caught' me and laid me down gently. Angels watchin over you there, buddy.

I'm real glad to hear you're still kickin', even if your ride has bit the bullitt. You got real lucky on this one.

Just a week ago I had a MVA in my office, no seatbelt, no front teeth (they were apparently left in the dash of the car), and I can't help think that could have been avoided.

Seatbelts are mandatory in our province, and although it took some time getting used to putting it on, now it's second nature. I think they are life savers, and everyone should be strapped in.

Our cars can be replaced one way or another, but we CANNOT, so lets be careful.

Glad you survived. Not much to add to what's already been said, just remember what you learned from this experience and put it to good use. Mistakes can be a great teacher.

You are one lucky fella there! Thank God you did not have any passengers with you as they may not have faired as well....

I have a 16 year old friend that was going 70 around a curve 4 weeks ago and lost control of his 96 GT vert and rolled it once. He had 2 other guys with him and everyone was wearing their belts. Cop said they saved their lives.

Yes, it was Bob! Only his vert was Deep Forest Green with a tan top. He got ticketed for speeding and reckless endangerment. Am afraid it will be quite spendy for he and his folks. His parent's insurance dropped them after the accident as they had only been with them for 2 years. He had admitted to going 120 mph prior to the accident as he had slowed down to 70 to go around the curve in the road but not slow enough I gather! They are going to get the car fixed as the frame is not bent. The A pillar is in bad shape. The roll bar he had put in it helped save the kid in the back seat from injury. No one got hurt except for the burn from the seat belt on the neck.

He placed 2nd in his class at the Bozeman International last summer with that car.

My 18 year old son was not wearing his seat belt and neither were the two passengers when he totalled the '67.
I think the only thing that saved them was the metal that car was made with.
I never truely believed in guardian angels until that day.
Unfortunately, after all the wounds healed (broken nose, fractured skull, bruised ribs, etc.), I don't believe he's learned his lesson.
I'm glad that you're okay, and that your guardian angel was paying attention.
Please think about it EVERY time you get behind the wheel.
