#1720 was dynoed at 235rwhp.

I want 250rwhp. That's all.

I do not have access to a speed shop.

I do have a credit card and an internet connection

No forced air, no NOS.

Suggestions?

Off road X or H, timing adjuster, larger MAF, different injectors, custom chip burned on dyno, densecharger, have the heads and intake rubbed out a little, and the list go's on. I think the biggest bang for the buck I've seen is BBK longtubes with OR-X and densecharger

Well lets see. Since you sound like you want parts that are fairly easy to install and add hp.

1. Start with a h-pipe or x-pipe off road exhaust. They will cost you a little torque down low but usually add about 5 hp up top.

2. You could go with the Steeda 3 piece pulley kit and the Steeda timing adjuster. This seems to be a real hot item among the 99 and up modular motors. This will probably give you 5-10 hp.

3.Now that the easy proven stuff is out of the way you could go crazy and buy a set of long tube headers. These paired up with a shorty h or x pipe are usually worth a good 10-15 hp themselves. But they are a pain in the ass to install.

Good luck.

Are you looking to do stuff yourself? If thats the case, then you can't go wrong with a CAI such as a Densecharger. Steeda Underdrive pulleys are another option along with a custom burned chip. Eitherway, get that credit card ready.....

MAFterburnerTM!!!! Check out the latest dyno results on a stock 2001 Mustang GT. Here is the link to the product:

And the link to the 2001 GT Dyno:

I would also recommend a Steeda T/A and pullies and you should come close to your mark. If you can afford a high-flow X or H-pipe (or off-road one). Then you should see 250rwhp.

Best of luck,

Mark

Pretty much what I had in mind.

Step 1: Denscharger

Step 2: Steeda U/D pulleys and T/A

Step 3: Long tube headers

Steps 1 and 2 I can do myself. Step 3 can be done at the dealer. Without access to a dyno on a regular basis (a portable dyno ususally comes to town in the summer during an auto show) I would hesitate to play with custom chips. I figure these changes will put me at 250. The car was low on mileage when dyno'ed last year, so I suspect the 4.6 has loosened up (sure feels like it).

Thanks everyone for your input.

For both the custom chip and the MAFterburner, wouldn't he need access to a dyno? His question included not having access to a speed shop.

I may be mistaken but I read his original post as he didn't have access to a tuner. Without a dyno how would he ever know if he was making the target 250rwhp?

Look at my sig! No long tubes, only shorties and over 250rwhp. Also, check out my rwtq number!

Get exhaust, t/a&pullies, Densecharger or similar product, al/ds, and get gears the car will not make more power but it will be much faster and go with atleast 4.10's(4.30's are better tho!!)

check out the new MM&FF...they got like 20 hp and 30 some lbs/ft of torque from air silencer removal, pullies, timing adjuster,MAF,and Throttle body. I think they started at 219 hp at the wheels and 265 lbs/ft. After the bolt on's they were at 238hp and 300 lbs/ft at the wheels. If I remember right I think they said the majority came from the timing adjuster. I think they got 4hp from the silencer...8hp from the MAF, 1 hp from the TB...the T/A made only 6hp but 15 lb/ft of torque.
