I just saw a SUNOCO gas station going up,on my way to work the other day. Hasn't been one around this area since the late 70s. Anyone else have any in their area, and how good is their gas these days?

We've got Sunoco all over the place in PA. I use their fuel exclusively. My Bullitt gets Ultra 94 octane on every fill up. Some of the stations also carry 100 octane fuel. Its good as an occasional treat for the car. My mods require high octane, so its perfect. Try it out, its good stuff.

aaahh, another good memory Larry!!!
my next door neighbor used to stop and get a few gallons of Sunnoco 260 every saturday night before he raced his 69 SS 396 at the 1/4 mile

I live in IL where there are no Sunocos... I grew up in Cleveland and avoided Sunoco like the plague. They would often try to pass off their 86-octane "Economy" crap (in OH and MI, not PA) as the same price as everyone else's regular (and would charge 1-9c/gal more for their 87-octane regular). The only advantage to Sunoco is for my dad-- he puts their 94-octane fuel into his Pantera, as nobody else in Cleveland carries above 93.

I haven't seen a Sunoco here since the 70's either. There was one in town when I was a kid. Wish they'd put one in here. Along with a race fuel pump  We used to have that too, up until about 94, the Handy Way's had Unocal 100 octane at the pump.

Sunoco never left our area. My wife and I always fill up their because they take your Auto Club card (CAA) and swipe it-then you earn points towards your auto club membership. Last year our membership was free. Your can get 98 octane fuel but only a rich person can afford it. Premium in Canada is very expensive per litre-thank you Ford for not making me buy premium.

The Detroit area still has quite a few Sunocos.
One of my favorite ones is at Van Born and Pelham in Allen Park. They offer 110 octane Turbo Blue. Don't put it in your Bullitt, since its leaded gas! Filler wouldn't fit anyway...

Who remembers the old Sinclair stations? Geeze, they had guys that used to wait on you back in those days. "Check your oil sir?, need water?, I'll clean your windshield as soon as I'm done filling your front tire with air"

If anyone has a chance to go to The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, they've got a great display of old gas station stuff, including the trinkets that the Sinclair stations used to give out.

Kind of cool; transistor radios, glasses, kids' toys, all with the trademark dinosaur on them. I think one of their old brans was even called "Dino."

bullitt 3980 hit it. Here in Canada premium octane gasoline is EXPENSIVE!! The often charge an additional $.10 per litre or $.50 a gallon for it. In the US is it typically $.10 per gallon. Here in Ottawa gas hovers around $.65 per litre (x 4.55 to a gallon)for regular, and $.75 for Premium. Ouch.

Lots of Sunoco in Michigan. I was vacationing near Cape May,New Jersey and pulled into a big station to top off the F250 and started to pump my own and the pump jockey ran over and practically had a heart attack grabbing the nozzel away from me. Geez,he read the riot act to me about the law in Jersey! Any other states like this ??I can carry 100 gallons, so I had him top off everything. Kept him busy for awhile seeing he likes to be in charge. LOL
