Has anyone verified that by removing the air silencer off the air filter canister helps increase hp, and by how much if any?

A friend of mine did some testing at the dyno on his 01 Cobra.
First pull was with paper filter and snorkel=223rwhp
Second pull was with K&N and snorkel=225rwhp
Final pull was with K&N and no snorkel=223rwhp

Notes: These runs were made at 5300ft, so they are low.
Also 2rwhp is negligable on a dyno, it very well could have been dyno error or heat in the motor, so the results were inconclusive on his car...

Well, that's two dyno sessions and two different vehicles...snorkel = more power. Everyone always insists on dyno results for proof right? I'm getting a PowerShot or K&N and puttin' mine back in until some one can produce a dyno sheet showing me where I get more hp & tourqe by removing it. Fact is I only took it out because everyone does it almost automatically.

I just put a supercharger between the filter and the throttle body and that seemed to make a difference.

I was thinking the same way about the dyno w/the heat. I am going to try Saturday the 23 at gateway. (on and off) anyone else going? 9am till 5 pm
I still have mine on because in F-stock for autocrossing you are not allowed to remove it, and since I have a Bullitt there is no need to cheat!!!!
gettin ready to kick some F-Body

I removed mine for a time. But then one day right after I washed the car I noticed after raising the hood that water was getting into the filter housing and pooling. Since I live in a place where it rains all the time, I figured it might be a good idea to put the silencer back.

I might take it back off for the summer.

I removed my silencer last night. What a pain in the a$$. I did notice in the airbox some left over residue from water that had set in there with the silencer on. I dont think the silencer being off would allow much more water in. But what a sound when I stomp on the gas now. I havent really noticed any performance dfference though.
