It will be the Mercury Marauder!I am the GM at a Lincoln Mercury dealers used car lot.We have already been told that we can order one in April. We will only be able to order a maximum of five. They will have the 4.6 DOHC and an HD AOD with a high stall converter and higher shift points. They will all have a 3.55 gear. They also have gauges on the console w/white dails on all gauges. Also 18" wheels. They come in any color you desire as long as it is black.I feel the same way about this car as I did the Bullitt,I've gotta have one! What about you all?

Go to Fords website and then hit the Mercury emblem. From their you will see a specific section for the Maurader. These cars will be produced at the end of the model run this year because of the differences between them and a regular Grand Marquis. They also have available now an LSE that has dual exhaust with a 235hp 4.6 with 276lb of torque. These cars have a 3.27 gear.specific suspension,17 x 8.5 wheels with speed rated tires. They also have a floor mounted shifter with a console. They are basically a police pk car with much nicer appointments. These cars are not slow.Top speed on the police car is artificially limited to 129,with reprograming they are good to the high 130's.If they dont have it on the Lincoln Mercury website, hit keyword Mercury Marauder and search and you will find some streaming videos of this cool car.Hope this helps!

I got to see the showcar at the local autoshow. No one working the Merc booth had any info and was surprised anyone under 60 would consider one.

My wife made the decision for me that the Marauder was too big and cop-car. That's how I ended up with the Bullitt.

Lead Sled! Cool,
but have you thought about the
"FOURTY NINE" the 49 Ford concept may become a reality. No news as of yet, it was at the Chicago Auto Show. Combo of Ghia and 49-50 Ford, 22" wheels. What a ride.

Man,
I like the Marauder, but to me that 49 is just too cool. Hey DHG2404, what's the link to those 49 pics? I had em on my desk top at work, but just left that cushy desk job and went back to a SSN.

I'll pass judgement on the Marauder after I see how it compares to the Impala SS. I still don't know why it took Ford/Mercury so long to put together a performance 4-door sedan.

Like mustang 1 said, that is my next car. I would have bought one, but didn't want to wait another 18 months. The Bullitt is fun, but I really like big boats (especially with power). Its a kick when you beat the kids with an old man's car.

Ford has already had a performance 4 door sedan... The 1998 -2000 SVT Contour. I owned a 98 SVT Contour and never once got beat by an Impala SS. Then again for some odd reason I beat several 96-97 Mustang GT's ? I'll take the Mercury's version of the Mondeo if it makes it back over here.

I have seen and driven the Crown Victoria with the Sport Option Groupand also I ordered an 2002 Grand Marquis with the LSE Package. Both cars are a much fancier versions of the Police Interceptor Pk,but with floor shift and a console. They also have 16x8 alloys and specifically tuned suspension with true dual exhaust and 235HP.These cars are good performers and come only with a 3.27 gear. The tuning on the PI is more aggressive and the top speed is now limited to 129MPH.The PI also has an available 3.55 gear and has a right here, right now kind of attitude.I had a 1999 PI Crown Victoria with the 3.55 gear that my father now owns.I also deleted the top speed limiter and the car easily hit 140MPH.These cars are alot stronger than you would think, even with the 4.6 SOHC.If you pre-load the converter a little and nail the throttle you can anililate the tires at will. The Maurader will be killer and I will order one as soon as you can place the order.
