Hey everyone,

I've never been much of a mustang guy until I saw the new 2001 Bullitt. I checked one out at my local dealer and they were asking $32000 for it. It had a whopping $5000 dealer markup above msrp. Is that the norm for this car? If I check around, does anyone know the likelihood of finding one at msrp or lower? Its a cool car, but the $3000 markup from a GT for what are largely cosmetic alerations is more than enough of a price hike for me, even if it is a limited edition. Thanks.

Kevin

The price of the Bullitts most members have payed have been Sticker or lower!!!! I did see a Bullitt that the salesman said they wouldn't let go anyless than 1500 over sticker. ($27,380). I paided $25,000 for 1007. And I guess the closer to the last Bullitt being built could cause the price to go up. Some people will pay it. Look at the Cobra R and the Vipers, dealers drove the price up and people payed. But I'm not a professional car salesman , so my opinon might be off.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Encouraging info. I live just outside of Portland, OR, and currently drive a 2000 Focus ZX3. I'm looking to trade into a car with some real power under the hood and was *this* close to picking up a Subaru WRX but man, there's something about the Bullitt the Subie just can't touch.

I really don't intend to pay much more than $25,000 for a new car, and was a bit disheartened that I might have to "settle" for a GT if I went with a V8 torque-monster.

Good to hear that the Bullitt might be in my price range after all.

I must say it is pretty cool to see that Bullitt pic under my name already....

Anyone know how far into the production run they are? If I wait 2-3 months to have a bigger down payment do you think I'll have any trouble finding one?

And another question, I sat in one for a couple of minutes and wasn't sure how comfortable the seats were. Anyone have any complaints about that or do you find the car pretty comfortable to drive in? Thanks again.

Later,

Kevin

Edit: I just saw that you already said you live on the west coast. Doh! But I'll leave this here anyway. For all I know, you could easily get to PA...

I don't want to be all doom and gloom, but I think if you wait 2 or 3 months you may have trouble finding one at all. Especially after the USA Today article.

It KILLS me to say this, but: If you live anywhere near Eastern PA, Lehigh Valley Ford (Vinart) has a True Blue one still in stock. It kills me because my one experience there had me ready to say nasty nasty things to the salesman I spoke with, and I just walked in with some wide eyed curiosity and q's about the Bullitt a few days before I went to pick mine up. IF you should buy there, avoid the tall heavyset guy with the beergut and Sopranos way about him. He's a d*ck. When I was there they had a DHG and a True Blue. I don't know if they still have the DHG or not. However, they did have the TB as of this past weekend. ***Warning: In the words of the DH I spoke with, the TB one is "being driven as a demo by the owner's son."*** I trust that the mileage will reflect this. Make sure the price does, too!

I hate to send them a drop of business, but I'd hate to see someone who wanted one miss it!!

Good luck in your quest!

Joe

If you want one you better get it now. Right now Ford is offering financing on the car. The longer you wait the more difficult it will be to find one. I've already seen them in Chicago for $28,000 USED! You should pay any more than sticker.

For your question on the seats, these are THE MOST comfortable seats I evr had in a Mustang.

The seats are awesome !
I would say to expect to pay sticker at this point unless you qualify for some type of "plan". The longer you wait the more difficult it will be to find one and then the price will even be higher due to supply and demand.

I got my bullitt for $800 over dealer invoice. I also was able to got a 5/50000 bumper to bumper warranty for $495. If your dealer is charging more than sticker call him a thief and leave. Chances are that her will call you later in the day to renegotiate the price.

Kevin,

You've come to the right place to look for a Bullitt!

Five Oh B (Brian) sells Bullitts up in Kent, Wa., just southeast of Seattle, a nice 2 1/2 hour ride from Portland!

He's sold 2 Bullitts to members here and if anyone will work with you, he will!

His personal email address is [email protected] and his dealership website is http://www.bowenscarff.com

nice job Bob!
brian will hook him up or try to find him one!
i read over the weekend that they think they will only get about 5500 Bullitts out the door( don't know how true that is)
but some dealers are realizing that with only a few Bullitts left, they can get over sticker now! sad but we live in a capitalistic economy!!
