Just got back last night from Illinois (Belleville/O'Fallon area) and made some observations while riding shotgun in dad's Crown Vic.

1. They really like Mustangs in the area I was in (just East of St.Louis). Saw a TON of them, everything from V6 to Cobra's, but no Bullitt's.

2. Why do people fix up a car to make it look all fast and bad and leave it with the stock V6? Passed a V6 stang (96-98) with a big aluminum(?)wing, shiny rims and new tires, lowered, and that silly limp looking tail pipe coming out from under the back bumper. Wonder if he knows he can get a charger for it? If it's going to look fast, then it should go fast.

3. Saw my first canadian goose killed on the side of the road, hit by car. I have NEVER seen that before. We have a ton of them around here and I've never seen them anywhere near a road except for flying over taking target practice. Anyone else ever seen that or is it just me?

4. Fair wairning guys, we passed at least 15-20 haulers with PT Cruisers on them heading East on 70 Friday. Those things are everywhere I look now, I can't imagine more of them running around!!!! And they were all black, silver, or white. GEESH!!!!!

5. Anyone ever traveled I64 from St.Louis to Louisville? VERY smooth road for an interstate (especially compared to 70!!!!). What's even better is that the entire stretch I saw only 1 state trooper!!!! And that was in Illinois!!!! Would have been nice to have the Bullitt for that trip! Guess which way I'm going back to my cousins next time when I take the Bullitt.

6. Indiana had the greatest number of troopers(15 or so), all but one was in an unmarked Crown Vic with the windows tinted. Only saw one with any markings on the side and it was a flat top. Just something to keep in mind if you drive through Indiana. BTW - that was on 70. NONE on 64.

7. Anyone ever have to take their parents car keys from them???? Way dad was going I was really wanting to. He thinks he's the best driver, but I beg to differ. Don't believe me, ask my sister and brother-in-law, they were following us on the way over there.

I think that's about it. It went kinda fast, but it was good seeing some of my family have seen in over 10 yrs. Did miss checking in on here everyday. Was doing a LOT of reading last night/this morning.

Yeah Marty I remember about 10 yrs ago whien I was driving to Kansas going through Missouri and the state troopers all had unmarked flat tops in all different colors. The one thing that gave them away was that all the ones I saw were the big Caprice's(Impala SS body style)!! They stood out for miles, especially since they were usually sitting in the median.
As for the geese, we have a ton here that stay year round now but I've never seen one on the side of the road, let alone hit by a car. It was weird. Almost thought about getting out to see if was shot, but with that heat, I didn't want to see what that thing smelled like!!!!!
