BLACK PAINT?
MY HOOD HAS RUST SPOTS UNDER THE PAINT, ABOUT 1/16" DIAMEMTER.
THERE ARE ABOUT 6 OR 7 OF THESE SPOTS
I HATE TO GET THE DEALER TO REPAINT, BUT.....

Hey Steeda: I've got a black Bullitt and I have not noticed any "rust spots" that you referred to. The only complaint I have of my paintjob are a couple of patches on the rear deck that appear to be scuff marks. I am going to try to buff them out this weekend, but they are hardly noticeable. Hope you can get your spots straightened out.
Steeda Bullitt,

The hood on the car is a composite material(fiberglass?), so if you have rust that would be pretty amazing. If you have bubbles in the paint it is more than likely environmental contaminants. Dust, Dirt, etc. I think most of us have defects in the paint to one extent or another. I think fixing them comes down to whether or not the defects bother you enough to take your chances with an aftermarket paint job.

Eric
the trunk is also the composite material, no metal in either!
steeda, please do us all a favor and stop typing in all caps! it means you are "yelling/screaming" ALL THE TIME!!!
no flame intended, it just gets really old after a while!
thank you!
please dont get me started on bad paint issues.......ok fine! i just tokk 161 in for re-paintong the hood and cpiliars. i was told they would repaint the whole car. they had it a week and compunded the hood and riceED IT UP!!!!! excuse my foul language. they didnt take off the hood scoop and now there are burns in the paint all over the hood. there is compund in places that i have no clue how to get out. they scratched the rear of my car. they lost one of my lock lugs...???? there is something on my passenger seat that i have no clue how to remove but it stained it real bad....and the list gos on..... needless to say i am real pissed at ford... sorry for venting on your thread....i heard the word paint and lost it.......
Wow Black Sunshine ! My dealer sucks but they have a really good paint department! had to repaint several areas of mine and u cant even tell the difference between the factory and dealer! Thanx Havgun #1676 I think we all have at least one or two or three or four !!!! horror stories about the ineptness of our service departments! Its just that there is no pride in a job well done anymore and then numbers is profit! Push them in and push them out as fast as u can ! Thanx Havgun #1676
Steeda Bullitt, if these spots are rail dust they will appear rust colored against black paint. Rail dust is actually iron oxide which is rust colored. Rail dust will not be removable with waxing but I noticed that auto zone now has the meguiars clay bar in a small $10.00 economy size. The clay bar will remove the spots if they are rail dust. Check your dealer invoice to see if the car was shipped by rail first. I've had customers, especially white vehicles, bring vehicles in for what they say is brown overspray paint that they have tried to wax or compound out. It's usually rail dust.
I have a Black Bullitt #4995, and have not experienced any paint problems. Paint is flawless.

Sorry to hear others having paint problems. If it isn't that noticable, I would not let the dealer repaint it. I am talking from past experiences. Just my 2 cents!
