I can see how it can happen-trusted tuner. Just a major lesson for all-think and rethink. You should never have to pay 100% up front. Some up front for parts maybe on a 'major custom rebuild' but never more than 50%, if that. If you are 'repalcing' parts and want the originals back make sure you get it spelled out in writing-as well as time estimates. Lastly-for that kind of work get 'references' and call them. I wish that guy luck.

What I learned from that post is that there are guys out there with a Sh*&t load more money than me. Did you read that some of those guys had like four or five corvettes..not to mention..yea..then I wired him another 20K after the first 120K..YIKES..that is a ton of money. Do I feel poor or what now. Hopefully after law school I can afford some of those beautiful cars. Now I am just bumed out. Night all.

Oh man, that's rough.

In all my dealings with shops on various projects over the years, I've never had to front more than 50% of the cash at the start of the project. Most places just need this to know you're serious and they generally can afford to cover the balance and know you're good for it per a purchase agreement when the project is complete and ready for delivery.

A hard lesson, and we can all learn from this guy's misfortune.

Not the last, I'm sure.

IMO, Mr. H better watch his rear when he's out and about. With guys dropping the kind of cash like the guy with the Viper did with no fulfillment on the deal at hand, he could find himself in some serious (not to mention deadly) trouble.
