We just had a TKO-500 put in (my son's) Bullitt 3613. As he had to sell his kidney to get a loan extension <g>, cost was definitely a factor. It ended up being $3200 installed, at Standard Transmission in Fort Worth (licensed Tremec dealer). Took it in on Thursday, drove it back home to Victoria on Friday. It's rated for 500 lb torque, and the gearing is nearly identical to the original tranny. He's glad to be rid of the cursed 3650.

Big difference between the Ford Cobra T-56 and the Viper T-56.

10Spline input on the cobra, 26spline on the Viper, new clutch needed. That's where the extra TQ capacity is from.

Look at the gear ratios. A cobra trans with our factory 3.27's and our HP wouldn't be able to pull a dead hooker out of bed. With 3.55's, the cobra T-56 tops out at 55 or so in first, with our 3.27's and the little power we have, you'd get beat by Civics. We don't have enough power or gear from the factory to use a Ford SVT Cobra T-56.

I am going to do what Kurt is doing. Having his 3650 bullet proofed. Actually costs less than a T-56.
It does, but after doing 4.10s in my car, I wish I had a T-56.

You get the point though, the Cobra spec has the longest gears out of them all, you'd really have to gear up your bullitt to work with that tranny.

Yes indeed, it was looking at first gear that steered us away from the T-56. Trying to minimize cost, it seemed foolish to need to re-gear the rear to make up for what you lost with the T-56.

Kinda hoping the "new and improved" TKO-500 meets the criteria as "Bullitt-proof", as well. 1000 miles and counting.

Ordered the T56 kit from DDperformance back in 05. This is before they offered the cobra T56.
I got the aluminum flywheel and a SPEC II clutch setup. I enjoy it alot. Alot better than the weak 3650. Plus its the wow factor when you say 6spd. I run 4:10's out in the back. Not much of a difference when cruising onthe highway. When I decide on more power, I'll swap out the final drive to the .50 overdrive.
