While driving home my brake pedal cover came off..I have seen a few articles on how this is a bitch to get back on...they're not lying! I know what to do, but it's a tight squeeze...any suggestions? Should I lube it up..I am going to try a short flat head screwdriver to pry the rubber around the pedal...has this happened to anyone? Thanks

Emmett,
It is a real bitch to get back on. Mine came off and I noticed a tiny split in one corner. I finally got it back on after screaming for about an hour. Trouble was it never stayed on after that. I got a new one from Ford under warranty and they installed it. No problems now.

Anything water based that will eventually dry is your best bet. While a good lube will work it will also mean that the lube will still be on the pedal and metal and make it all the easier for the cover to slip off again in the future.

Mine came off once and the dealer put it back on for me when it was in for oil change...but it just came off again the other day. Hmmm...1200km to go for next oil change.Might wait and let them do it again and ask them to glue it this time.

I got it back on, seems to be fine. I hope it doesn't come off again. I used WD 40, I was going for the soapy water, but there is some kind of tar, grease type substance on the pedal itself and I thought it would only make a big mess. Thanks

So do the pedal covers just snap on, or slide
on, etc. How do they pop off? Is it from a
shoe sole edge catching the edge of the pedal
cover? Curious...

My clutch pedal cover came off a couple days ago (first time).

I examined the back - one of the edges that wraps around the pedal base ripped and probably useless now.

Has anyone had to buy a new clutch pedal cover? If so, how much was it? What's the cost to install at the dealer (I don't want to attempt on my own if it would lead to me damaging/ripping the rubber portion)?

Best bet is to put the pedel cover in some really hot water. This will allow you to slip the cover back on the pedal and when it cools down it will tighten up.

This worked the best for me when mine slipped off. You may wanty to put a dab of rubber cement on the pedal to keep it put.
