Hey all,

I'm a Mustang nut who's never actually owned one (unless you count the '82 Capri 6-cylinder I had...)

Well, I'm 25 and my insurance is a bit cheaper now. I am thinking about buying a Bullitt.

It has 7,500 miles. It was built on April 4th, 2001. I think this means it is a really early car. Can anyone estimate what number car it is? I haven't been able to look at it yet, but I have it reserved until Monday (I'm currently working in Toronto, but I live in Detroit and that's where the car is).

Color is the requisite Dark Hyland Green.

The price sounds great, but with a build of around 4/1/01 I would expect the number to be under 500. I have a DHG #289 with a build date the same. :-B

Hey, I thought we were going to keep the resale values up on the Bullits really inflated???

If you can get a Bullitt for $18,000--that's a great price. In fact, that's way below what Edmunds would say is even a dealer trade-in price. Either you have an extremely motivated seller (bought too much than he could afford) or it might have been in an accident. Even though it's less than 1 year old, a lot can happen in a year and I'd have a mechanic do an inspection for that price.

That is a very early build date, # 353 was put together on 4/18. Great price, be sure to get the carfax report. If any insurance claims were made on the car it will show up. If it has been repaired get a good paint and body man to look it over. Those guys can see things invisible to us mere mortals. I hope you buy the car. Everyone should have this much fun driving.

I would have loved to have paid $18,000 for mine. Sounds like your on to a great deal. As posted earlier have it checked out thoroughly though.

Ok, turns out that it is #15. Was a West Coast press car.

The only downside is that this car does not have a Mach 460 with the 6-disc changer. I kind of had my heart set on that!

Does anyone else out there have a Bullitt with the Dual Media (CD/Cassette) setup? As far as I know, the CDx6/Mach 460 was the only option on these vehicles other than color...

If you don't buy #15, you're nuts!! Who CARES if it doesn't have the sound system...to get #15 would be awesome!!!

Hey Craig, I don't have the optional Mach 460 in #3618. Do like I did - find any GT with the base radio/cassette combo and see if you think you can stand it. I had the Mach 460 in my '95 GT and do miss it a little, but the exhaust note more than makes up for it on my Bullitt. Plus, like they said, you can always add a new sound system later. Buy the car and enjoy!! Just realize that being a "press car" it has been run through the paces, and pretty hard. I would still buy it though. Good luck!
