I have decided that my mods would be in line with that of the concept car that Ford had touring the country. I went to a local car show this past spring, after ordering the Bullitt, and saw the concept Bullitt. I remember hoping the production model would be just like it, with the gas door,18" wheels, rear spoiler, and gages. The Concept car was hot, not that the production car is not, but man those 18" meats all the way around screamed fast!! Therefore, I am in search of the manufacture of the rear spoiler that was on the concept car. I know rear spoiler? But hey you have to admit the one on the concept was low profile, clean, and just looked right. I am also in search of the 18" wheels that were on the concept as well as the fuel door. If anyone can provide me with this info I would be psyched.

OKC Bullitt,

I can't help you with the spoiler or the wheels. As far as the gas cap goes, have a look in the Bullittproof forum in the folder called Bullitt 220 pics. Have a look at my cap mod.

I have also been in search of anything that would make my car more like the concept car.

I really think that the grill with just the pony and no corral was awesome on the show car and the steering wheel too.

If you go down to a Mercury dealer and have a look at the steering wheel in the new Mountaineer, it looks curiously like the one on the Bullitt show car. I'm thinking that you could order that wheel in dark charcoal, pull off the Merc logo and stick on a 35th anniversary logo!?!? It could happen.

Anyway, have a look at my pics and read my posting and I'll put you in touch with my guy if you are interested.

Also, if you find someone that can make that spoiler, I'm in. And, the other thing that I thought would be cool is if we could find someone to make the hood scoop mouded as part of the hood, not the goofy leaky stick on one we have now. A Cobra hood with the reverse scoops would be more in keeping with the '68 retro style too.

Well, I do know for a fact that Roush made the spoiler (and most if not all of the other unique body panels, interior and exterior). I was told that some of the concept pieces might still be around (or maybe even the molds!!!) BUT, after doing alot of searching...everything has either been distroyed or "returned to Ford" (probably to be distroyed also). I probably started searching too late...damn.

I liked the concept spoiler (and gas cap) myself. But, I don't think any pieces exist anymore, other than those on the concept car (if it still exists).

Thanks guys, I am going to try and contact Roush and see if they have the spoiler or one very similar to it. I am also trying to find the the rear bumper cover as well, maybe Roush can help me there too. Also I looked at 220's pics of his fuel door and is real close to that of the concept car. So, 220 send me the info I need to get the fuel door done. Thanks again guys.

I talked with george the other day and he told me about the fuel door. It sounds like it is going to be nice. However, the mod to the fuel door that 220 had done looks very much like the fuel door on the concept car. I am going for the concept look as closely as possible. I just remember seeing the concept Bullitt and having trouble walking for a while after that.

cool, i liked the concept's tiny "lip" spoiler too. similar to the one the Taurus SHO had for a couple of years,...but smaller & better looking!

Not to **** on your parade, but Roush does not have ANY of these pieces around. As per their contract with Ford, all items dealing with the concept car have been returned/distroyed.

I know the guy who designed the spoiler. He couldn't even snag one for himself (or me for that matter). When he found out I had a Bullitt, he was looking all over the place of the stuff...nothing was to be found.

BTW...the reason the spoiler never made it on the production Bullitt was because of cost...not entirely because the original 68 Bullitt didn't have one.

Oh well It was a nice dream while it lasted. Thanks 69 for the info, maybe some company will make an aftermarket copy of the pieces. I will beat the bushs and see what happens. At least I can get close to the fuel door and I can do the 18" wheels.

I sent an inquiry to Art Hyde as to where I might find the parts used on the concept car. His reply was that the rear spoiler was originaly designed for the 99 Cobra and was not used because of quality and replacement costs. The rear valance is the one used now with bondo to fill in the vent holes. Would you have quessed they would go so cheap to create a concept vehicle?
