I really like the one McQueen designed, but I wanted one that could be placed to the left of the lighter socket, where it could be seen better.

Back in early December, I emailed a friend of mine in Vegas that makes custom plaques and display cases for movie prop replicas. His name is Toby and I've been doing business with him for the past 2 1/2 years.

He wasn't able to make one exactly like McQueens, but he was sucessful making the one seen below. It's made out of magnesium and has a ruler in the pic to show it's scale.

Toby does great work and this plaque is no exception. I was very impressed with it, and the color of the plaque matches the interior nicely.

I knew he was having some trouble perfecting these...I emailed him today to say thanks and for his permission of offer them to the forum.

His reply:

That one was a little bit of a pain to figure out. There is one thing you need to be aware of. I’m not sure if the plaque will stay nice and new looking. I have had some reports of tarnishing from people who live on the East Coast. Use your discretion attaching it to the inside of your car. I would recommend something that is not permanent. Double sided tape should work fine.

The plaque will run $21 + $4 shipping via Priority Mail. Can you “test” yours for me to see how it holds up inside a car? As you can guess, the plaques I do are for indoor use only. Never had a request for something like this before

As of tomorrow I'm "testing" mine to see how it does. I personally don't think it'll age any worse than my Bullitt will. If you live in a salty climate, maybe a coat of clear flat paint would prevent any oxidation in the future.

I used some heavy-duty double-sided tape to attach mine to my dash/console. Got it straight the first time, too.

Anyway, if you would like to go ahead and buy one, just email him with your build number and production date (check your VIN decal in the doorjamb for the prod. date, or your build sheet if you were as lucky as I was)

He will reply with a "picture" of your plaque and you let him know the info is correct before he proceeds with making the real thing.

Toby's website is called "Masterpiece Replicas."

http://mpreps.com/

Click on the "Plaques" icon at the bottom of the homepage to see other examples of his plaques.

Toby's email is:

[email protected]

I'm not making any money on this deal, I'm just the messenger/reviewer and sending all of my fellow BullittHeads directly to the source.

As mentioned above, the plaques are $21.00 plus $4.00 shipped priority mail.

Thanks for looking,

Scott D.

McQueen

Quick question, I had ordered one of the plate, when can we expect them to start showing up at our doors? Just thought I would ask. Thanks

I really like it Scott, and like the placement better. I saw yours in a pic on another post, and wondered where you got it. I will order one for sure. Can't wait to see yours up close tomorrow at our club meet.

Scott,

Looks good. Is it possible to have the Bullitt lettering silver with the background a shade of grey matching our interior?

3946, email Toby and ask if it's possible...I agree that would look good, too!

Groovy, thanks for the heads-up on the Eject lighter. It was a "must have" for me.

OK, I'm glad the majority like it. I was hoping everyone would.

McQueen, I like your plaque and I admit the design is almost the same...can't make many differences with a Ford and Bullitt Logo, can we?

But...there were 2 things I wanted in a plaque that yours doesn't have:

1) Smaller size...

...so it could be next to the lighter socket. Yours is too big to fit there.

Yours is made to be placed up further up on the console and it is pointed downward.

I didn't want a plaque that faces downward.

2) A lower price.

As mentioned earlier, I've known Toby for a long time and I knew he could make a great plaque at a great price...half the price of yours.

All I wanted to do was make an affordable Bullitt dash plaque that I, and my fellow BullittHeads would like. I think it's the dash plaque Ford should have made for us instead of the silly decal(s).

Jay, I am fighting a cold but I will be at Team Ford for the Georgia Bullitt Club's Dyno Day. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Scott, looks cool. Nice work. I want to check it out tomorrow at our Bullitt Club meeting. Just when I think I have everything I want for the car something else comes along. Good thing the price will not break the bank on this one.
