I just picked up the replacement Bullitt Label from the dealer this morning. Dealer ordered it on January 16th and received it on January 22nd. The only difference I can tell from the original label and the replacement is the replacement is a little darker and the number has 3946 as opposed to 03946 on the original. The replacement sticker has a pre-applied clear overlay. Dealer stated that he didn't have time to look at my original sticker and just handed me the replacement. I'm wondering whether I should replace the original or just keep the replacement in a safe place.

Put it away. Thirty years from now when you wanna restore the car, you won't have to pay some vendor a fortune for a repro.

Of course with that kind of service we can expect to find these stickers on some fakes.

I agree with you all in keeping the replacement sticker in a safe place. Thanks for all the replies.

I would like to get the third hologram
(handed to me and then put in my Bullitt
Portfolio) but my original holograms are NOT damaged.
I had previously understood that to obtain the replacement hologram, the
original had to be damaged. Was your original
damaged?

Very curious.

PY,

My original was damaged. I didn't mix the clear epoxy good enough so when I applied it on the hologram it was still sticky and I wiped the numbers off by accident.

I called the dealer (manager of the part's dept) and referenced SSM#15505 who wasn't even aware of this notice. I faxed him my Bullitt info (Vin #, Bullitt Id no) along with the SSM #15505 article. I didn't have to bring the Bullitt in for him to inspect the hologram and he just ordered it. He called and left me a message stating that hologram label was in and that I needed to pick it up by tomorrow or wait till he got back from vacation next week. I saw him this morning and I asked him if he needed to verify that my hologram was indeed damaged. He just handed me an envelope and said that he didnt have time.

The letter that accompanies the replacement hologram label from Ford clearly states in Bold and in capital letters the following:

Important Information

The replacement label must be installed on the vehicle by the dealer technician NOT given to the customer. Only one (1) replacement label per VIN exists. Care must be taken not to lose or damage the replacement label, as additional labels are NOT available.

I guess I got lucky that this guy was in a rush to start his vacation and just handed the replacement to me. It's also probably up to the dealer whether they really reinforce the above statement.

SFBULL,
Excellent information. I had read the letter
from Ford when Fred got his replaced. I did
not remember/know if yours had been damaged
or not. I guess I could give it the old
college try to get the replacement...I think
you are 100% correct, alot depends on the
dealer and their mood/workload at the time.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify SFBULL,

Collin
