hey guys, You all should be the experts.
first post, looking for specific information on bullit engine. I've got a totally forged 2001 GT of which I am thinking about selling the car/engine separate. I would be buying a 100% crate bullit engine and want the specs.

After doing a few searches, all I found which I wasn't aware of, was a lot of speculation on the actual specs of Bullitt motor. Karkraft mentioned the cams were different then the GT also the computer was different.

I confirmed Ford has a separate processor for the Bullit, but not sure on the cam issue.

What are the specs of the Bullit engine and differences between the GT?
Different:
-cams
-MAF
-processor(which I think)

What processor code should I get or do I need the processor anyways?

Thanks alot for your help.

PS. I am not trying to make my GT a Bullitt wantabe, karkraft just happens to have a very good deal on bullitt motors and I am looking at my options.

thanks

Welcome to the club.

There has been speculation that Bullitt cams are different, but dyno runs don't seem to support it. I think the cams are the same as in the GT. I'm pretty sure the MAF is the same also. I don't think you need a different computer than the one you have now, but some people here have gotten impressive gains by having a custom program burned for the specific mods thay have installed. I am a little disappointed with the fall-off in torque of the Bullitt motor past 4400RPM and wonder how much improvement can be realized by custom burning a program for a stock Bullitt engine. Anybody try this?

Somewhere on here,I posted the 99-01 GT cam specs, which I believe are the same as the Bullitt, not 101% sure. As far as torque fall off,on most engines, unless really cammed up,the torque will fall off at 4400 RPM

Mus408,
I agree that past 4400 the torque will always fall off without some changes in the cam. But I wish it would not fall off so fast. I just wonder if advancing the timing a few degrees, leaning out the air/fuel ratio, and burning high test gas would gain some ponies at high RPM on a stock Bullitt.

The Camshaft is identical between the a standard 2001 GT and a Bullitt. Primary diffrences are as follows:
-Aluminum intake manifold
-Air Filter and Zip tube Assembly (Modified Cobra Piece)
-Throttle Body
-Water Pump and Pulley
-Alternator and Pulley
-Associated PCV tubing and coolant hoses
-EEC computer

PEO'R,sounds like you mean a chip tuneup!! I have a chip, which I need to send off to get reburned for the O/R pipe, and it gave me about 10 HP above 5000 RPM,by leaning out the A/F ratio. It was worth about 3-5 HP across the lower RPM range at all points.

Thanks for the replies.
I checked with Ford, and there is only one part number listed for the 2001 4.6 SOHC camshaft(one each side).

So the question is the differences between the computers. Is one better then the other or can the GT run with the Bullit. I suspect yes, becuase people have already added the intake to the GTs and not changed computers.

I'm just wondering if the rumor about detune is true and if so, would it be in the computer?

I'm getting a chip for the current engine/computer next week, and will make my decision after that.

Again thanks for your help.

Did anyone check my website out, I've got all details on both 01 GT and 01 Cobra listed and some nice photos. Give me some feedback.

Thanks Mus408, the info on a chip tune for a stock engine was what I was after. I know others got nice gains from custom chips burned to their mods. Did you feel much difference?

Found it. Look in Specifications/power_train/engine/V8_2V/4.6 Liter and scroll down to camshafts.

Thank you for your help. I did actually find that before I asked the question.

IMBOC has very good data. I always go here first, then if I need more information I ask in a thread if I can't find what I was looking for.

I (actually a friend of mine) is trying to find more specs for example the duration, overlap, etc. of the factory camshaft(s). This is a clarification question as we've seen (on other various websites) different specs being posted as the "stock GT cam(s)" and we're trying to figure out who is correct before an aftermarket (or possibly other Ford MOD engine) camshaft is purchased ... (???)

Anyways ... I found the CD I used for repairing the window regulator. Let me know if you need any help it might offer.

THANKS AGAIN ~ !!!

(GRA)
