The collector DVD is about 80 bucks, the regular DVD is around 15 or 20 bucks.
What does the collector DVD have that makes
it so expensive? The guys at Blockbuster did
not know. I am going to get the DVD and if
the collector edition has some neato stuff,
I will get it.

I don't have Bullitt, but I have the same type edition (remastered w/stenotype, ect)of Full Metal Jacket, and it is very cool. If you are a big fan of the movie, go for it.
Go here to see what you get in the Collector's Edition:
I was going to order it when I first found out about it, but take a look, no pics of the '68 which is why I was going to get in in the first place. Guess I'm not the true fan of the movie that I thought I was, but I will spend my money elsewhere. BTW, Wal-Mart has the DVD now for $14.88 - after I spent over $20 to get mine at a specialty store early last year.

That photo is the Bullitt SE that Ford mailed me along with a nice thank you note from L. Torrey Galida, VP, General Marketing, Ford of Canada. If I had a scanner I would post the letter-the envelope and the letter have the bullitt font on them-hey-we pay more for our cars.
I got my collector set dvd at Fry's. I think it was worth the $80. I intend to frame the poster and the lobby cards are really neat. It even comes with the complete screenplay. Great chase scene...terrible movie. Oh well...can't win 'em all. If you can afford it, I'd go for it.
Badkharma, it MAY BE rare. The guys at
Blockbuster told me that only 10,000
collector Bullitt DVD editions were made.
Is 10,000 rare for an item like this...
I don't know.
Are those guys at Blockbuster full of c***?
I don't know. (probably)
Who knows.
Getting one anyway just to have the cool stuff.
Will get the DVD player later...will use my
Beta machine for now.
Got the Bullitt soundtrack on 8 track too.
NOT!

Hey Bullitt3980, I actually paid less for my Bullitt here in Canada (when you do the conversion) than a lot of people did in the US so the above statement isn't altogether true.

Yes, I paid WAY less for my Bullitt than most Americans did as well. I got mine for under $23K, along with paint protection, interior protection, undercoat, the first 3 oil changes free, and a car cover compliments of my salesman. It seems like most Americans paid around $25-27K.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!
I just received the Bullitt special edition collector set from Block Buster Video! I didn't even think I would actually be able to get one! It is very cool with all the stuff mentioned in the previous posts. I still don't have a DVD player!
I just noticed on the back of the Senitype
card in the collector Bullitt DVD there is
a number that has been stamped in. I think
this is a serial number similar to our
hologram number for the Bullitt. It is near
the bottom of the back of the card. My
number is 0004738. Anybody with the collector
DVD please let me know what your number is.
I hope this turns out. I scanned the letter that Ford sends out with the package. It is neatly behind a plastic film now. Hey everything Bullitt is collectible.
My set is numbered H 0000291. OK--who has 0001046 out there-I want it. Tomorrow I think I'll swing by Fry's-they had about 6 sets on the shelves, the PUC label on the back should carry this number-its a long shot but maybe I can hook someone up with the matching movie set---this is just getting sick, I gotta get a life.
