Hey everyone,

Has anyone else been rather annoyed that the rocker paneling around the tires (those plastic "splash guards") tend to make contact with the road at every chance.

I have been studying the original '68 fastback and have noticed that its ground effects were much less pronounced. I have been playing with the idea of removing and storing my Bullitt rocker panels and having some of the standard V6 or GT rocker kits painted and installed on my Bullitt just to give it a little more clearance on the road. Obviously, this is a few years from happening, but I want to throw out the idea.

Thoughts?

Well,

Here in Southern California it seems like every parking lot has this annoying tendency to have extreme grades from the lot to the street so unless you slow to 1 mph before turning into these lots... SCRAPE! And many of these grocery stores/businesses are off busy streets where slowing to worm like veolcities is dangerous for the Bullitt's read end because of the traffic behind you.

It sucks, b/c I came from Atlanta where they have normal parking lot entries with nice, shallow inclines. Unless you have an SUV or truck out here, you have to be extremely cautious.

I know exactly what you mean! Maybe it's a California kind of thing but my driveway and the curbs are all "rolled" so there are no definite entrances or exits. If I pull out of my driveway head first the front wheels are in the gutter, the rear wheels are up in the driveway and the rocker panels are scraping the sidewalk! I have to back out - slowly. Sometimes I forget. I think it's a concession to the people in wheelchairs or something. Cheers, Tony

I've just now noticed that the concept Bullitt doesn't have these flaps either, making for much cleaner looking ground effects.

I am seriously considering pulling a mod' on this aspect of the car.

Look closely at the pictures of the '03 Cobra. They have rocker moldings similar to the Bullitt, but the molding behind the front tire doesn't have the "mudflap". This may be the perfect soluting for someone who has problems with their mudflaps.

BTW- I've ground mine at least twice.

I just have to say this...MFBullitt435's sig
is AWESOME! NICE JOB!

I have not had any rocker scrapes...yet.
I do have rock guards on the front rockers
that extend about 1/4 of an inch below the
bottom of the rocker. No problems yet.
