Talked to someone in the know. The X in the VIN signifies 4.6 litre single overhead cam V-8. That's why it's also found in the VIN's for the GT. The V is the double overhead cam and found in the 8th position on Cobras. There is no number or letter designation in the VIN to signify the Bullitt. Only Ford has the VIN's produced as Bullitts and that plus the hologram are the only way to tell.
