I am always reading threads about the "death rattle". I myself have not heard it yet on my car, although I only have 1300 miles on it and it was only driven in the summer.
My question here is. have any Canadian Bullitts suffered from the Death Rattle? and if so what, if anything has been done about it?

My car came out of Canada and does exhibit the "death rattle" when cold.

As with most everyone else, I'm just waiting to hear from what others find out what the deal is with it and if anything will be done by Ford.....

With only 1500 miles on our Bullitt, it has NOT indicated any Death Rattle sounds to date. It is in cold storage now, so I will be listening closely in the spring when I first take her out. I am positive that being a Canadian model should not make any difference as they are all built in the same plant and the Canadian-related specs would not appear to alleviate the problems or sounds. Just my opinion. I think Ford has to step in here and take some responsibility.

Trigger is parked now till spring but i did take him out for a short rip in mid January and it was -20 c that afternoon.I didn't hear any rattle infact the 5.4 in my 2000 F150 made more noise that day than Trigger did? Does this so called death rattle happen more with synthetic or regular oil because a friend of mine uses synthetic in his 2000 malibu and it sounds terrible sometimes?

Hi Paul!
I just turned 4500 KM on my Bullitt (approx. 2800 miles), and I have yet to hear anything "rattle"-related.

Maybe it's just luck... but more likely it's the fact that I NEVER drive off before the engine has had time to warm up and have the gauge needle move into the "normal" temperature zone (beyond the "C" mark). I do this even in the summer. Everyone thinks I'm nuts for letting every car I've ever owned warmup for so long, but I've yet to experience any problems when I do this. And when it's time to roll, I don't ever worry about driving it hard in the 3-4000 RPM range (and beyond).
No engine "rattle" at all.

I doubt that our cars being Canadian means anything...unless our Bullitts are playing hockey of course!

(sorry, I couldn't resist)

See ya soon Paul!

Touche' evil.
My question was not if there was a
difference between the CDN and US cars . It just occured to me earlier today that I hadn't heard any complaints of the "rattle" from any CDN cars.
So...either we're lucky or we're just not paying attention.
Lastly, if there is any CDN car(s) with the "rattle" keep the rest of us posted on what Ford Cda. is doing about it.
