Collectible miniatures...to open or not?

I'm a beginning collector. My collection currently consists of 6 pieces: sealed 1/25 Revell Bullitt and Charger w/ figures, sealed 1/64 Revell Bullitt and Charger, and opened 1/64 Revell Bullitt and Charger. I still haven't decided if I want to be an in-box collector or just open everything up.

My 1/25 Mustang has a flaw. There's a streak of silver paint on the rear fender. I've been debating opening it and touching it up. Does anybody know what color matches properly with the existing model? Should I fix it, or does the fact that it's sealed with a flaw add value?

Way too many of those made to be collectable as a flawed car. Any chance of collectibility will be as a sealed unit. Buy another to save and open that one up and enjoy--take a little auto paint polish (or cleaner wax) and you can probably get that paint off-be gentle- --'touching' up ie repainting will be noticable and will destroy collector value. Note that with the AutoArt editions I would not expect the Revell cars to grown in value--EXCEPT if you buy both the 68 Mustang with the Steve McQueen figure and the 68 Charger with the guys inside as a 'set". Even then you are going to have a very long wait before you could later sell them for much of a profit-5 yrs plus.
