How do the Nitto DR handle during normal driving and high speed corner carving? Do they handle the corners as good as the stock radials?

actually Karl, they handle excellent on a road course. In fact, I believe alot of autoX/road racers use them on all FOURS.

They work sufficiently in the rain, as long as you're not worn past the indicator depth. I've daily driven 17" 275/40 555R nittos on my Cobra for over three years.

JB,if I can find a good look-alike 17x9 Bullitt wheel, that size DR,275x40x17,would look and work great on the street, and once and a while drag race. It could use the look and function of a larger tire, even with the stock 3.27 gear.

Mus408,
Performance Wheel Outlet's add in the recent MM&FF shows them carrying wheels like ours in 17X9. Check em out at http://www.performancewheeloutlet.com

Oops, just checked the web site, they don't show them there, but do in MM&FF ad (Jan 2002 issue, page 51).

those using 275 40 17's...is there any speedo correction to be made? I did the calculations
(40% of 275 is 110 & 45% of 245 is 110.25) which means that the stock tire height would be 1/4 mm higher...I think thats right?

Is discount tire the cheapest place to get these tires at 149.00 a piece?

They are essentially the same circumference. In an ideal world(were specs are 100% accurate) there is a .06" difference. There's probably more difference between your left and right tires on there right now. Nothing to be concerned about.

Mus, when I get ready to go to the track, and swap the 17X9 Cobra R rims off the Cobra and onto the Bullitt, I always step back and admire the difference. They look flat-out awesome from behind the car. I see absolutely no need for wheel spacers if this setup is in your future.

17X9 rims plus 275/40 nittos looks perfect (and the performance? well... )

JB,I have decided that is the next mod I am going with. However,I may not being going with a drag radial, but maybe a better tire for good handling and ride quality. Like I have said before,I didn't buy this car for best drag strip performance, but more for a good lookng and running street/handling machine. You know for best strip performance, all the Bullitt's suspension and brake upgrades, hinder it's 1/4 mile performance, such as weight penalty and weight transfer. My 85 LX is already setup to those specs.Guess my Bullitt will be the Boss 302 I never had!

How do they wear? And do I gather from the followup questions that the don't make them in 245/45/17?

Thanks!
