The Bullitt weighs in at roughly 3320,mine did,and I couldn't believe the curb weight of the new 03 Cobra at 3665 lbs.!!!! Thats 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile. Every 100 lbs.gain cost you about a tenth of a second. It will need that 390 ft/lb of torque. Why didn't they just put a 351W crate engine in it,lose all that front end weight in the process, and still have 400 HP??????

I agree!! If the 03 can not run 12's this car will be a BIG disgrace to Ford/SVT. I do like the 03 I'm thinking about getting one BUT 1st I need to see it run 12's stock.

I will take a guess......Other mags will get a 12.85 at 107 MPH.....MM&FF will get something insane, that no one else will duplicate!! But what do you think it would run in the slalom course, against the Bullitt? That extra weight will be felt there. Anyway the 03 Cobra will be a real retro machine, with big block performance, and big block weight! The Z-06 won't have to sweat it,with a 500 LB. weight advantage and 405 HP.

My prediction is that the 03 Cobra will run a 12.5/12.6 @ 112-113mph. WHEN tweaked just a little. Still no treat to the Z06.

Don’t forget, nstalling a smaller pulley, thus raising the boost, will bring up the ponies to around 430. That would be sweet!

The "Baby Lightning will run 12's easily. Ford says 390, but this is a 400 HP Mustang with a factory warranty. I've read that just a little exhaust work and this pony will be pushing 425. It will eat any Z28 or Trans AM on the road. A Ford Executive at the Chicago show boldly told the Bowtie crowd "The 38 year pony wars are over. Mustang wins!" This is one hell of a car. Try March Motor Trend Mag.

One thing for sure, if this new, big bad $35,000 Cobra can't beat the stock Camaros and Firebirds, Ford will REALLY be in trouble! I can hardly wait for the first drag strip tests to come out. Gawd.....what if these engines make noises like some of the GTs and Bullitts do?!?!

I think the new 03 Cobra has caused more of a stir in the GM camp than it has in the Ford camp. There are more threads about it on LS1.com than any of the Mustang sites I visit. I can't wait for this thing to hit the streets! Yeehaa!
