I haven't installed them yet, but I've received my hood lift strut kit made by California Pony Cars... a company that sells hood struts painted in OEM colors. How cool is this?

Here are some pics...

More after they've been installed... which won't be for about 2 weeks, because that's the next time I can get to Great Bear Auto Repair (darn it). :)

Thanks, Terry!

I know! They're going to look like they came from the factory (which they should have, if Ford had wanted to class-up the Bullitt's engine compartment).

Of course, they did give us that beautiful - and functional - cross-brace... and much more! :) :) :)

Struts Installed Today (finally)

Yes they do, Terry! :) :) :)

Today (June 27th), we finally had a sunny day here in NYC so I decided to drive over to Great Bear Auto & Body Center here in Queens (family owned and operated since 1933! ) to get these Hood Lift Struts installed.

(My apologies to fellow Bullitthead, Rick (First Ford), in Englishtown, NJ for not being able to take him up on his generous offer to do this install with me at his place. With all the rain we've had and my busy schedule I just couldn't make it to Englishtown. Sorry, Rick!)

Danny, the head guy at Great Bear, did the work. I helped hold the hood in place... minimizing the risk of there being any alignment issues once the work was done. (There weren't any. :) )

I also brought the thread from the install by Mike & Karen (Got Oatz) with me, so I could show Danny what they had done with the windshield washer fluid hose attachments. (Fun to discover my browser - Firefox - can save any page I'm on as a PDF file.) Danny eventually duplicated what they did.

I was too busy helping out to take pictures, so the pictures below were taken after I brought my Bullitt back to its garage.

Today was actually a two-Bullitt-project day, because - once back in the garage - I worked on some chips in the paint on my Bullitt's hood and front bumper that developed from my experience driving behind a dump truck on the NJ Turnpike. (Gotta love it when one of those overloaded - in my humble opinion - dump trucks lets loose with a blast of dirt when you happen to be driving behind it. ) Thanks to fellow Bullitthead HESH for turning me on to the Dr. Color Chip product (as well as for encouraging me to get myself some hood struts! ;) ). The Dr. Color Chip product seems to have done the trick. :)

By the way, if my garage looks to be a bit of a mess, that's because it is. They are repairing multiple leaks in the ceiling, and there is scaffolding all over the place. I have a lot of respect for the guys who park the cars there for working in such conditions. But they love my Bullitt... so I know it's always well taken care of. (Although one of the guys asked me today if I would consider getting a car cover to keep my Bullitt from getting dusty. Hmmm...)

Thanks for the support with these projects everyone!

I can't wait for the next car club meet, so I can show off my new Hood Struts! :) :) :)

+ another for the car cover.

I wouldn't want any of that dust and debris going onto my paint. No telling what is contained in the dust...YIKES!

Thanks for the comment! :)

Your pictures were Very Helpful!

I'm also inspired by the way you finished off the front of the engine compartment with those California Pony Car parts. (Can you help me find them in the CalPonyCars.com web site? I'm having trouble finding them. ) If my friends at Great Bear can do the cut and finish job you did, I think I'll install them next. They really make for a very clean look! ;)

Thanks again for the great threads you make. (You must be related to Terry!  )

Just ordered a Dust Cover

Well... cross another item off my To Do List.

Thanks to a post from Collin on a Dust Cover thread I found under the 01 part of this site...

Pete, I've been using a CoverCraft Dustop car cover for the past 7 or 8 years. It does what it states...stops dust bleed-through.

Here's a link...

... I just ordered a CoverCraft Dustop car cover for my Bullitt. :) :) :)

With a storage bag (but no locking cable), it's running me less than $190. Free shipping too... from AutoAnything.com... thanks to their "$25 Off $199 Plus Free Shipping" Sale thru the end of June. They're even open on Sundays.

I can see that I've been putting my Bullitt's paint job at risk. No more of that!

Thanks again for the helpful suggestions, guys! :) :) :)

You're Welcome Steve, and no, no relation to the great one....

I actually purchased the radiator extensions from this vendor on E Bay, along with all my CPC products....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06-07-08-09-Mustang-Strut-Tower-Covers-Under-Hood_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem33537a493eQQitemZ220443855166QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I don't see the radiator extensions listed on his other parts, but send him a note, he always has them....

And, if it will help you out, let me know and I will be glad to trace a pattern of the one I cut for Karen's car for you, and send it......
