I guess I'm lucky, my girls got at least a couple of my "car guy" genes. When I showed them the car for the first time I had them stand in the driveway with their eyes closed as I opened the garage door, started the Bullitt and rolled it out. At first they thought I had a new truck because of the sound. When they opened their eyes they both said "That is so cool!! What is it?" When I explained the model and why it looks like it does they said they liked the fact it was kind of undercover and didn't have all the scoops, spoilers and chrome GT's. Made my heart proud that they "got" the car.

I guess it my self centric nature that makes my scratch my head when people don't get it. However, my circle of friends is not exactly comprised of motorheads or film buffs so I have a tough time trying to explain what the Bullitt is. When I am in the company of these masses, I do not refer to the car as a "Bullitt" Mustang any longer because I know they are reading that as "bullet" and instantly think I am only trying to brag about how fast the car is. I have now turned to calling it a "Limited Edition Steve McQueen" Mustang. Much more difficult to say but it easily opens the door to go into more details if the party is truly interested in your car. : )

My friends for the most part are the same way. I find opening the hood usually helps them get it

Yea, I tried to explain to my nephew what it was. Who is Steve Mcqueen? I kicked him out of the house.

I tell my friends that I have a Black Mustang with the Bullitt package. And if they ask me what that means , I tell them that means the car is awesome. Then I ask them do you want a ride :)

My Daughter is turning 2 on Friday. Everyday I come home she says "where's Bullitt?" She makes me pop the hood just about everyday and she knows intake, manifold, air filter... I couldn't have asked for a better kid and she is a "girl" I can go on and on about her my wife tells me she has the "car gene". Since she was 3 months old she's loved cars, and she has been driving on daddy's lap since she was 9 months old..

Now she even is claiming my Bullitt as her own! She says my Bullitt now instead of daddy's... For sure when she's old enough she will be inheriting it! No one believes all of this until they see it and they think it's pretty amazing....

My son is 27. I bought my Bullitt when he was 25. He doesn't understand the Bullitt, does not have the car gene, doesn't like the car and thinks that I have started my Mid-Life Crisis. HA! Little does he realize that was over 20 years ago, and I bought a 1984 Capri RS. This car is about reliving my youth, and taking my time about doing it. One other thing, I'm wearing it out before he can inherit it! 8)

If you look at the muscle cars of the 60's .
There were no spoilers or scoops, " There were a few exceptions" That is what I love about the new Bullitts . They are not about SHOW , they are about Go! NO plastic cool fake stuff to make them look cool. If it is not needed it isn't on the car

I agree with taking her for a ride at the local road course on open track day to let her expereience some serious Bullitt sh**! Not the big show but "GO" is what the Bullitt is all about.

It is really great to hear about family members that understand the relationship of the 01 and 08 Bullitt to Steve McQueen, the movie, etc. and also have an appreciation of it all. My family understands but they don't appreciate. They think I'm just crazy.
