Here is another one. This was in Austin, Texas yesterday and closed down the fwy for over 3 hours. As of the paper printing the driver was still alive in the hospital. He was ejected or would have certainly been killed.

The worst wreck I ever remember seeing involved a Mustang:

I don't remember the year, but it was the early '70's, on vacation with the parents we got stuck in a traffic jam. We first came upon a early 70's Chevy Caprice or Impala on its roof. About 1/4 mile further we came upon a '65 or '66 Mustang that was completely cut in two. As I remember, it looked like someone cut the Stang in half with a saw just forward of the rear seat. There is no telling how fast that Chevy was going to shear a car in two like that. Any occupants of either front seat of the Stang were surely killed.

I bring it up only because if find it intersting that the first wreck I ever remember seeing invloved a Mustang.

This is directly from the newspaper on the web.

Traffic on MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) was snarled for hours Monday afternoon after a Ford Mustang collided with an 18-wheeler near the Barton Skyway exit. Austin police said the driver of the Mustang was traveling north on MoPac when the car went out of control, crossed the median and crashed into the truck in the southbound lanes. The Mustang's driver, whose name wasn't released, was ejected from the car. He was taken to Brackenridge Hospital, where he was in critical condition Monday night. No other injuries were reported in the wreck, which occurred about 2:30 p.m.

Yea, I got caught in that mess. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to go about 3 miles. Finally got off, and traffic going south on every major thoroughfare was slowed down. Then this morning on the way to work some cement truch bought it on highway 71 closing down about 1/2 mile bringing traffic to a standstill again. And this evening I watched a little ricer T-Bone a Ford truck who was trying to pull out of a side parking lot and wasn't watching the inside lane of traffic. I think the crazies are all out this week. Tonight I got cut off 3 times.... The insane asylum musta let all the loonies loose at once............

Hey Dillo,

How have you been? Thanks again for selling me the Bullitt model. Anyway, yes the crazies are definitely out in central Texas. The issue I had last week with the Red Dodge P/U, the wreck yesterday on MoPAC and then your experience today.

Everyone, please be safe out there....

On the subject on totaled stangs, does anyone live in Corpus Christi or know someone that does and has or I should say had a Bullitt. My brother lives there and he was telling me there was a Bullitt that wrapped around a telephone pole at about 100 mph. The roof was cut off to get the driver out. I heard he broke both of his legs.

Me and my brother both have heard different stories about how the accident happened. One being the guy doing 100 mph. I would like to know which one to believe.

Regardless of what the true story is, people need to be careful on the road. The guy is lucky he came away with only broke legs.
